Default Eliot Spitzer's fall

Sorry to see Mr. Eliot Spitzer fall. He was one of the few US State Attorney Generals who answered my communications back in 2000 to any state office with an e-mail address about each of their departments looking at the Florida Victim Services Directory http://myfloridalegal.com/directory to get ideas for what their own states could do for victims in the way of an online victim resource directory. Mr. Spitzer actually sent me a snail mail letter dated September 20, 2000 that he would discuss my suggestions with his staff.

He seemed open to input from even someone from Florida. Then from Palm Harbor, Florida when I dropped him an e-mail. I did have recent entries in Marquis
Who's Who in the World and Marquis Who's Who in America though to add to my credibility even though I had some very serious credibility problems dating from some tinfoil hat incidents in earlier 2000 over which I had little or no control.

Doubt if a lot of men or women go to prostitutes and/or gigolos except maybe those with a lot of money to use as well as a proclivity to skirt the rules. (pun intended).

I do not see prostitution as a "victimless" crime especially in certain countries where those with little or no other options are involved.

I lived in Nevada for 14 years (1969-1983) or so and as some probably already know prostitution is legal in rural counties in Nevada. Does not seem to be legal in urban areas of Nevada like Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada but it sure still happens there as well.

Tal, you have touched a real raw spot with me. I truly thought he was a slime ball since the beginning.... He rode his white horse, waved his pure white flag, and targeted businesses that were doing things that weren't illegal and were considered standard business practices by the companies for years, but didn't fit some modern "politically correct" definition he had honed. He ruined people's financial futures all over the place by causing stocks to de-value in extraordinary ways as a result of his laser focus on issues which ultimately only mattered to his pure-of-heart public image, and his ambition to become Governor of my state.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Whether or not his "crime" was terrible, well, it's not so much what he did, but who he projected himself to be - which was this pure, pure judge of everyone.... Every dog indeed DOES have his day! Good-bye to the bum!

If you're interested, one day I'll really tell you how I feel..... ;D

I do find it strange that the New York Public Library does NOT have a link to NY State's version of the FL Victim Services Directory. See for yourself. Here are links to the NYPL legal research guide http://www.nypl.org/research/sibl/law/ and the NY Crime Victim's Board http://www.cvb.state.ny.us/HelpforCr...eaProgram.aspx

Seems like unless links like these are just so much smoke and mirrors, many NY library systems would have a link to help out victims/survivors of crimes.

I have been bugging politicians, the media, celebrities and anyone else with the power to do something to help victims of crimes get better access to information since mid-1991. Do think that if the Governor of NY--Eliot Spitzer-- thought this was REALLY a serious issue, then the NYPL would have a link to the NY CVB's "HelpforCrimeVictims" program locator. This just seems like common sense.

His response to you in FL probably had more to do with his desire to have nationwide recognition than to help out any victims. Probably already thinking about a run at being President. Thankfully, those dreams are squashed!

We mere mortals may sin and it's between God and us. We don't preach morality to our fellow man. Well, I don't anyway.
These guys (Craig, Spitzer et al) get up on the bully pulpit declaring their virtuous ways and exhort us all to be better.
Yeah....hypocrites all.

I tend to agree with the somewhat negative comments regarding the Royal Eliot. I thought his sole purpose in his actions as Attorney General was to promote Eliot Spitzer. His aim was to become Governor and only to use that as a stepping stone. His tactic was to attack the evil money grubbers of the NYSE. As Steve said, he attacked people who did nothing illegal but whose actions violated Eliot's sense of political correctness. And he threatened prosecution of anyone who questioned his tactics. He sued Dick Grasso because he felt Grasso had been paid too much. He didn't sue A-Rod because he got a huge salary from the Yankees. He didn't sue Barbra Streisand because she made multi-millions from her various "Very Last Concert Tours". But he did sue the head of the NYSE because he had, years before, negotiated a favorable but not unheard of pay package.

I don't begrudge Spitzer having his whores. I did find it amazing that he said "I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family, and violates my -- or any -- sense of right and wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better." But he, the former Attorney General and as Governor, the chief law enforcement officer of his state, does not admit to or apologize for breaking the law. And I guess it's not shocking that he spent over $80,000 on hookers. That's a lot of money for me. I probably didn't spend near that much on prostitutes in the nine years I lived in Germany. But Eliot is much richer than us mere mortals. At least, as far as we know, he did not following in the footsteps of his neighbor Jim McGreevey by making one of his bimbos NY Director of Homeland Security.

with all of the above! There are more hypocrites in our political system than can be counted. And OMG why don't they leave their wives at home? Why submit them to more humiliation? I won't accept the answers "to make it look like they're standing by their man or for moral support." If it was me, I'd say, You're on your own bud. You don't need any moral support, can't support something you've never had -- morals.

Ahhhh Sweet revenge ;D Don't ya love when a hypocrite gets caught in his own holier than thou preaching?
I have lived in NYS all my life except for tours of duty in the USAF and have detested my home state all my life and to add to all this I am now ashamed.
It truly is time for me to become a full time Villager

Hey Handie, I'm sure we have a lot to be ashamed about here in the Sunshine State. If not, I'm sure we can come up with something.

Of all involved in this mess my heart goes out to his family. His poor wife and daughters are being ostracized and "dissed" wherever they go. If I were them I'd leave him so fast his head would spin, move far, far away, change my name and act like I'd never even heard of him or the state of New York. Oh yeah before that I'd sue his :edit: for the pain, suffering and public humiliation for which he is solely responsible!

Even in his lame apology his blatant arrogance is shocking! It's not so much that he paid for the services of a sex worker although as a married person I find his adulterous behavior abhorrent and despicable but the fact that he persecuted so many people and lorded his "family values" over everyone is just plain shameful!!

As a colleague of mine would say, "God don't like ugly"!

Spiter called my mother-in-law personally and helped her out. She lived in a very poor area of upstate NY and was having problems with the trailer park owners. She lives in a trailer.
He did alot of good things. He was elected by over 70%.
I feel so bad for his wife and daughters.

1rnfl OMG I'm sorry Mcelheny, but if he can pay over 80K for hookers, don't you think he can get his mother-in-law out of a trailer and into a house in a better part of town! He's a completely useless human being and if he does have to spend time behind bars (which I doubt) I know some of those peeps he put away will be waiting for him with bells on.

I think its a hoot, at how all theses morons that get caught with their hands in the cookie jar, are so sorry about what they did. Horse s..t! The only thing there sorry for, is the fact that they got caught. Don't you think if Spitzer hadn't gotten caught he be with his tootsie tonight to the tune of another $5000.

These bums all look so contrite after they get caught. Pure dribble. He should have his n.ts clipped and sent to jail.

Sorry, but I just can't take any more of the idiots we keep electing into office.
