njbchbum: you mistake my post. I am referring to those career medicaid/food stamps individuals who pass that right of entitlement from one generation to another. I certainly would not include folks like you..unless you consider what you are getting as "Obama money" See the difference?????

perhaps i am overly sensitive, rubicon. but as benefactor of federal $ and state $ - i am reminded constantly by members of the private sector that i am living off the govt trough AND that they are the ones who are filling it! am often reminded by the same folks that my work for state govt was not a job that generated a product from which profit was generated, as is common in their sector. they TOTALLY discount the fact that what i did produce for them was a service that they had whined for and demanded of their elected officials! had that service not been instituted there would have been no need for my postition...so i just thank them for their whining and demanding! ;)

Thanks...How Could I Miss It?

How could I forget the article was in the middle of the front page? I rustled thru all the sections, knowing I had read the article, but never thought to look on the front page!

Thanks. It's a good article.

You are welcome. Putting in the link again. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/03/us...=markleibovich

I still cannot see the surprize about Maureen Dowd criticizing Barack Obama with her using the name Obambi for him in some 2008 columns. She looks like an Ann Coulter like columnist who has little or no regard for politicians of either party.

Here she takes on Romney, Al Gore, Jr., and Mormon baptisms of the dead -- http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/18/op...rmon.html?_r=1

"There’s a certain pathos to Romney. His manner is so inauthentic, you can’t find him anywhere. Is he the guy he was on Wednesday or the guy he was on Thursday?

He has the same problem that diminished the equally animatronic Al Gore. Gore kept mum on the one thing that made him come alive, the environment, fearing he’d be cast, as W. liked to say, as 'a green, green lima bean.'” from above linked Dowd NYT Column.

Romney will get my vote. But this sentence from Dowd's column today pretty much describes my feeling of discomfort for the guy.

I wish I knew more about his platform and specific plans to address important issues. Then it would be easier to compare and contrast him with Obama's actual performance. But other than his stump speech criticsms of Obama, he never seems to say anything specific about what he would do.

Like what he thinks should be done regarding the $7 trillion in tax increases and destructive cuts to spending that will happen automatically at the end of the year? "Wait until there's a new POTUS and Congress; let them handle the problems." Really? Does he realize how destructive those things will be to our economy, to our military, and how difficult it will be to get Congress to act in a bi-partisan way to address what should be done?

Or his criticism that Obama isn't addressing the Syrian situation properly. But he dosen't ever say what he thinks he U.S. should do--what he would do if he were POTUS.

This may be another "lesser of two evils" election. But so far, I have even less confidence in Romney than I did in Obama five months before the 2008 election. "Inauthentic, animatronic"? Yeah, those are descriptions that seem to apply.

My goodness, are these the best two guys a country of over 300 million people could come up with? That's pretty sad, don't you think?
