There is NO disrespect to anyone serving proudly in the military. My nephew Gunnery Sargent US Marines, with a purple heart after 5 tours in the mid east, told me when I saw him before his first deployment this was a bogus war. Just as bogus as the banner Bush stood under "Mission Accomplished" total BS!

What about the morals of a President and Vice President who ordered torture!!!!

Please define "bogus war" Was the American war for independence "bogus" because it was an illegal, traitorous revolution? Was the civil war "bogus" because Lincoln prosecuted it in violation of the SCOTUS Dredd Scott decision? Was Vietnam "bogus" because it was a puppet, political war between opposing communist and capitalist ideologies?
So was Iraq "bogus" because there were no WMDs found, even though all the best intelligence suggested Hussein had them? Even today, I can hear the recorded cell phone call from one Iraqi general to another----"The UN team is headed your way, better move the "stuff"". What stuff would they want to hide from the UN---a box of twinkies?????. It's a large desert, it took 8 months to find Hussein in a hole, and he needed food, air and water. How hard to hide barrels of chemical weapons or nerve gas? We are still digging "stuff" up in the desert from 5,000 years ago. Truth is, that we will probably never know, but ultimately, "war is hell", and has tendencies to bend the usual sense of ethics and morality. Not saying that's right, just saying that's how it is.

I don't think that it would have really mattered what your nephew would have told you. It sounds like your mind was already made up. Please thank him for his service.

Dear Guest: I happen to agree with you and the other posters about the war in Iraq. Sometime ago the Wall Street journal carried an article where the author said that just prior to our invasion Iraqi Republican guards replaced Syrian guards over night along the Syria/Iraq border implying that Iraq moved WMD to syria. About two weeks ago again in a Wall Street Journal article the author implied that WMD found in Syria had Iraqi origins
Even if you don't believe the aforementioned is it so hard to believe that Saddam who buried airplanes in the desert couldn't hide WMD

War is hell but we would be experiencing a living hell if not for the unselfish acts of brave men and women who strongly believe in our American way of life.

As to Freddie Gray..is anyone surprised that the city of Baltimore paid such a huge amount so quickly. A city government where the mayor sanctioned destruction of property . Where a prosecuting attorney joins in with rioters to express no justice no peace.

In my view the city should have attempted two things before settling. One demand and pushed aggressively for a change in venue for both the criminal and civil matters. Secondly not settled that civil claim until the results of the criminal charges were concluded. BUT WE KNOW WHY THEY DIDN'T This is a city run by angry progressives and with black populist notions meaning that they going to get the man. and I'll make book that Al Sharpton had taken the lead here.

I don't know about the rest of America but I am sick and tired of the lawlessness going on and federal and state representatives that sit back and do nothing because they are afraid to offend and lose votes.

:agree:
And worse yet, The state of Maryland has a $400,000 liability cap on non-economic damages, so this looks like 6 million for nothing. I think this was a blatant attempt to further pollute the jury pool

No one should go to jail unless for some wild reason they can prove that someone murdered the guy. They had no reason to, so as far as I am concerned, until they prove motive, it didn't happen. For all I know, the other prisoner killed him. Or, the stupid idiot just slammed his head against the wall until he committed suicide. But, I see NO evidence that the cops were culpable, regardless of what the liberal media says.

No doubt it was the "liberal media" who reviewed all the facts surrounding the death and then decided to pay the $6 million settlement. And, the media that charged the officers.

Fortunately, "for all you know", which isn't much, isn't a deciding factor.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, no civil case had even been filed yet. So this is not so much a "settlement" as it is a payoff----in which case is it even legal?

Legal? Like Hillary is fond of saying, "What difference does it make."

Someone asked if Vietnam was a bogus war. Yes, it was.

It was a civil war that the USA should not ever have been involved with. The Gulf of Tonkin was a bogus way of getting involved.

58,000 soldiers died for nothing. Vietnam is now a tourist destination and a trading partner with the USA.

I asked. Is it simply a civil war when the Russians and Chinese were backing and arming one side to export their communist philosophy. My brother, who nearly died there, didn't think so.
As far as a trading partner and a tourist destination goes, so is Germany, Italy and Japan----perhaps that makes WWII "bogus" also

Wow..screw the courts.n this poster knows the facts in his/her mind and case is closed.

Your post is so filled with assumptions and no facts, but one, in my mind needs to be addressed.

You people who come on here with your "preaching" is really annoying.
NOBODY, AT ANY TIME, EVER EVEN hinted that your last sentence was condoned, so please, stop preaching.

Not preaching. Go to google and check out the times the "rough ride" has cost Baltimore huge amounts of money.

No assumptions either.

Wait until the trials of these six officers. You will see my prediction of the driver and the sergeant being found guilty if depraved heart murder will be accurate.

Police are not above the law.

Japan, Italy, and Germany all LOST to the USA. Vietnam did not lose. Vietnam is still a Communist country.

So the criteria by which we decide to trade/visit a former adversary after 50 years is by who won????
BTW, we did not "lose" in Vietnam. In fact we won every single battle---100% of them. We lost the will to fight at home, not on the battlefield

Back to the topic. Freddie Gray died because of an illegal arrest which led to the illegal rough ride in the paddy wagon just to tune him up a little bit. The police are guilty and the trials will prove that to be a fact. Police must follow laws, too.
