Gasoline up over $3/gal...oil $100 per barrel....

does this all sound familiar? Have we not been here before....many, many times.

Someone please remind me what it is we are doing to become energy independent?
It is only time before our gluttony for oil, our willingness to be wagged around by OPEC, our willingness to do nothing...NOTHING...for over 40 years. No, I take that back we have increased our oil consumption and dependency by almost 50% over the past 40 years.

All the wars, the terrorism, the fairy tale need for health care reform, the politics will all be dwarfed by the coming disruption of the global oil supply.
The USA will fall the hardest since it is the biggest user with no short term way around the problem. Remember the suggestions 10, 20 and 30 years ago to increase refineries? to increase domestic production of oil? to aggressively pursue alternate energy sources? And please do remember the classic answer 10, 20 and 30 years ago? There are no easy solutions. Meaningful progress toward energy independence will take 10 or more years. Well we wasted 30 years and we will get caught short.
The current administration's position.....words....no actions like all those before him.

OPEC will help us again as they increase production. Oil prices will go down. Gas will go back down to $2 or less and all will be right with the world again.

OPEC and China will have their way with the paper tigers we have today. It is inevitable.

Living in TV bubble is not the answer trotting around in our golf carts. You won't be able to afford the prices at the store.

A great nation in decline with an ever increasing rate of descent.

Please enlighten me if you think it won't happen.
