Actually we can help stop the negative ads..a few years ago Colorado had a Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell who ran and was elected as a Democrat. After about a year he changed parties... While running for re-election he ran an ad pointing out his opponent was a flip-flopper. This ad really made me mad, it insulted my intelligence, so I called his headquarters....I started out commenting that I had seen this ad and he responded how true that was about the opponent. After he finished I told him I had just one question.....
Didn't Ben Nighthorse Campbell do the biggest flip-flop of all 4 years ago?
There was silence at the other end of the phone...he couldn't say a thing. I said I take that as a yes. And laughed.
I never saw that ad again....We are responsible for allowing this type of ad to work. If we disgree with an ad...call them tell'em what you think.

Telling them what you think wont help.
The problem is with US.....negative ads work. We are so lazy that we dont do any of our own research on candidates, what they REALLY stand for, what are the odds they may do anything they promise, etc. It is available..it is out there but we choose to go by the people with the most money who can create an image for us as voters. If that has to be negative they will do it.
It is the fault of the voter....if you read any history of politics it will validate what I am saying. We, each election, show our reluctance to study and to vote with our brains....we vote simply on emotion and perception thus we get the government we deserve !
