I would agree that guns by themselves do not kill people ... the combination of people and guns do kill people. There are some people who should NOT have guns, for example Jared Loughner. At that point your opinion and and mine will diverge.

Let's' see people and cars, people and baseball bats, could go on and on and on, but what is your point. Loughner should not have even been allowed on the street by himself, let alone have any type of weapon or drive a car. But the LEFT wants everyone to have it all.

What is this war on women? Guess that I missed that one. Seems that your group has a war on religion, so none of us are right or left or wrong or correct.

So you assume that everyone who is NOT right is Left. There are still some of us who are center left, so to speak. I agree that Loughner should not have gotten a gun and neither should have Cho Seung-Hui (Virginia Tech). Why did Zimmerman have a CWP when he had assault and battery charges on a police officer in his past?

As far as the war on women just read the headlines....In AZ there a proposed bill to force women to prove they need birth control pills for a medical reason other than contraception. They must prove this to their employer.

Now this is funny......especially since the right wing has a full scale war on women going.

You all want smaller government until it comes to women then you want to regulate the heck out of us.

Do you really believe that or are you intentionally spouting liberal trash?

I thought you were brighter than that. 'guess I was wrong.

That is a question that I would suggest that you take up with the State of Florida. In my previous state of residence, that would have disqualified him. Each state has different rules, so as I said above, take that up with the State of Florida and find out why he was allowed to have a permit with that charge on his record. Would be interesting to find out why.

Not sure what you mean here. Do I believe that the Republican party is trying to control women's access to healthcare. Yes I do given the proposed law in Arizona....

Why would the Republicans hold a hearing on women's health issue and only invite MEN?

See we can agree...

Sorry we can not, just read the wikipida on Zimmerman. Charge was dropped from his records so it was never considered according to wikipida. But if you take my CWL class you will learn that the most important item that you carry will be your cell phone in protecting yourself and your loved ones and that even with the "Stand your ground" law it is always better to avoid and deter if at all possible. Saves a lot of time, heartache and money.

The biggest problem that the states have, is the once a CWL is issued a lot of the carriers think that they are "unofficial" police officers, when that is not the case.

Another problem is that the vast majority of CWL holders never practice or think through what they will do in an emergency situation.

I don't know the answer to fixing these problems, but I do believe in the right of ever citizen who lawfully can own and carry a firearm that right to do so. How do we correct and still honor the United Constitution and the 2d Amendment? I have no answer to that question, do you?

Where does that information come from? Can you back that up?

After having given a class to over 400 people and hearing what they say, that is where that statement comes from. I have told everyone that ever took my class, we are not police officers, you should not get involved unless your life or your loved one is in direct danger. You want to be really careful interferring between two people who you have no knowledge of, it is always better to call the "real" police and let them handle the situation, less one is trying to kill the other and there is no time. That would be come a judgement call and if you go to trial, the "reasonable man" rule would come into play. If you don't know that that is, "reasonable man," google it. Interesting reading.

I have even heard since I have been in Florida, "IF I see a Stop and Rob, getting robbed, I would try and stop it." Not me, my favorite weapon in that case would be my cellphone. But you do what you want to do, you have to make your own decision.

I disagree..... in principle we have agreed that some people should not be issued a CWP and people with mental health issues should not be sold a gun. Just that fact that you understand there are issues that need corrected is a great start.

In an earlier thread you posted that we would never be able to discuss this issue but we did.

I know this was not a comment for me but I wanted to comment anyway. You are one of very few people with a decidedly liberal bent on this forum who can have a conversation with a conservative without name calling and gratuitous remarks that are too personal.

I've always admired your ability to stick to the issues and your beliefs and be civil about it. You're a special lady.

Richie... thank you so much for this post.

You are so welcome. You do this forum thing better than I, but I'm striving.
