Gimme a break

My husband and I thought briefly about putting a McCain/Palin sign in our yard. As quickly, we considered that the new people across the street are probably Obama/Biden backers, as we saw them getting signs of the same out of the back of their car, after a rally in Orlando, I think it was. We would not want to look at an Obama sign every day, so reasoned that it would not be pleasant for them to have to look at our sign, with McCain/Palin on it. Our golf cart signs surely would not upset anyone, with one saying, "Drill Here, Drill Now," and the other saying "Fair Tax." I think, there is too much from rabid supporters of both parties that is ugly. The vandalism of cars, etc. with McCain/Palin stickers, however, seems to predominate, as I read news and t.v. channels' web sites, most noticably from South Florida.

bummer

hang in there. I am recieving the same hate mail in Georgia. I have been a republican voter longer than I can remember and want to vote RED this time, but McCain makes me nervous and now with Palin, I just can't be part of subjecting my country to the backward, closed minded way they think.

you figure she would at least by now know what the VP does, But she cant get it right. Still thinks The constitution would let her Control the Senate.

I was having coffee and reading the paper this morning with the TV on in the background. They switched between a McCain campaign rally and an Obama rally. McCain was ranting about all the bad things that Obama would do were he elected, inciting boos from the crowd and hesitating to wait for the boos and jeers. Then the channel switched to an Obama rally where he was moderating a panel discussion with audience questions regarding the economic situation. It was calm, informative and positive.

Unfortunately, Magoo seems to have experienced the hatred that has been imbedded by the almost constant drumbeat of negative and personally derogatory campaigning by John McCain. That really is too bad. At the outset of the campaign I was pleased that we almost couldn't go wrong with whichever of the candidates was elected. I was unsure who would get my vote. i can't say that now. McCain, his party and his advisors have adopted a totally negative campaign, believing that will convince more of the undecided voters than a campaign on the high road as he initially promised. If his advisors are right, he may pick up a few undecided voters. But speaking for myself, he lost me.

I'm hopeful that the disrepair among Americans created during this campaign can be assuaged once the election is over, but my hopes aren't too high. We will reap the bitterness that has been sown, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, it will be at a time when there are sufficient problems facing a new President that would be helped with the broad support among all citizens.

I try not to read what is posted in the political forum because most of it is so full of hatred that I can't bear it. The rest is that people are so brain washed along party lines that no matter what happens, nothing could change their minds. Kahuna, I salute you for YOUR calm responses and although I don't always agree with you, I respect your intelligent, open minded attitude, your articulate non inflammatory posts and your general demeanor.

Hate and Fear Appear

I happen to be in New York City last week and saw the QE2 leaving on its finial voyage. With a fire boat escort, while its deck guns shooting red white and blue water into the air. I was thinking it might be on it way to maybe Ft Lauderdale, FL to pick up all the TV McCain supporters on Nov 5 for a trip to the promised land. I was hoping they were carrying enough crying towels and was hoping there were still some john birchs left to greet the new TV passengers
