You seem to forget that it used to be a policy, all the way through Vietnam, for judges to offer convicted criminals a choice of going to jail or joining the military. It even happened during the Vietnam Conflict. Hey, the Army will take anyone. If not, then congress can start a new military branch called the LTW, Loosers To Winners.

Why? It's not necessarily the party that is wrong, but the representatives of that party. Ideology is ideology but members of a party shift their views right or left of the party ideology.
