Default Immigration - Arizona

Pretty much says it all... and from CNN no less.

Default Jack's A Curmudgeon Like Me

Agreed, Jack.

The only reason Congress hasn't addressed immigration reform is that they're afraid to say "boo" and lose some Latino votes--that's BOTH parties, by the way.

Props to Arizona for getting the federal government--where immigration legislation should be written and passed--off the dime.

Default He certainly hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately

just like the majority against health care reform was ignored, we will no doubt have to endure the freak show that comes with the arm waving.
!7 months and still awaiting a real POTUS stance on ANYTHING (instead of the **** ant politics he is so used to pandering with).

To me, it is like closing the barn door after the horses get out. I think that everyone who enters the U.S. should do so in a proper way, like our ancestors did.

Some countries require that people have means to be gainfully employed and a job waiting.

The laws are in place, but the enforcement is not.

Our Diocesan Catholic paper here in Cincinnati supports waiving these laws. I just don't know what can be done effectively and mercifully for people already living here. It was wrong to let this happen. It was wrong of them to enter the country illegally. The folks being arrested this week in Ohio are those who are scoflaws, who have been deported before for breaking the laws, and not just the immigration laws, but I will wonder if it will be effective, last time they had to let them go.

Default Protocol

It would be unfair to the good people who really want to be citizens and have gone through all the necessary steps to have these illegals cut in front of them.
They should go to the back of the line and meet all the proper requirements that all future citizens do.
Nobody is anti-immigrant.
Everybody should be against illegal immigrants.

There is no gray area.

Default Donna2, concisely stated.

Yesterday a congressman stated it is unreasonable to even think about sending 12 million "illegals" back home...there is just too many.
OK, using such superlative logic we can all relax and cut crime prevention budgets, there is just too much of it to realistically do anything about them....ditto fire fighting.....typical stupid non thinking political BS.

Stop them at the borders starting tomorrow morning. Do away with the birth right to citizenship starting tomorrow morning. Put in place a severe, significant fine per illegal head per day on all employers of illegals. Put a bounty out for leads to the where abouts of illegals and their employers.

Oh by the way as harsh as this sounds most of it is the law already.
Congrats again to Arizona for displaying what it means to stand and be counted.

It does seem perplexing that the federal government doesn't uphold the laws currently on the books regarding immigration and now are attempting to overhaul the entire system. Made me wonder what was really going on...so I went to the source. The Progressive Democrats of America.

According to PDA's website, an important current issue they are working with Congress to get passed on behalf of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender families, are changes to our Immigration and Nationality Act, "Summary:

2/12/2009--Introduced.
Uniting American Families Act of 2009 - Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to include a "permanent partner" within the scope of such Act. Defines a "permanent partner" as an individual 18 or older who: (1) is in a committed, intimate relationship with another individual 18 or older in which both individuals intend a lifelong commitment; (2) is financially interdependent with the other individual; (3) is not married to, or in a permanent partnership with, any other individual other than the individual; (4) is unable to contract with the other individual a marriage cognizable under this Act; and (5) is not a first, second, or third degree blood relation of the other individual. Defines a "permanent partnership" as the relationship existing between two permanent partners."

And from Immigration Equality April 29, 2010, "Senate Immigration Reform Principles Include Lesbian and Gay Binational Families Proposal by Reid, Schumer & Menendez Calls for an End to Discrimination Faced by LGBT Families

"WASHINGTON, DC – A framework for comprehensive immigration reform, authored by Senators Harry Reid (D-NV), Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ), includes a call for an end to discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) binational families. The principles, which are meant to guide Congressional crafting of immigration reform legislation, specifically call for key provisions of the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) to be part of a future reform bill.

"Immigration Equality hailed the inclusion of the language, which would allow LGBT citizens and legal permanent residents to sponsor their foreign national partners for residency in the United States. Under current law, no such sponsorship is available. An estimated 36,000 face imminent separation or exile because of discriminatory immigration policies. UAFA is sponsored in the Senate by Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, and in the House by Congressman Jerrold Nadler of New York...."

I knew a big part of Obama's base, the LGBT, was really upset with him over the his him-hawing on Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Now I see where it is going and how he will work to appease this group. Open and transparent government at its finest.

Thank you for such an informative post BKCUNNINGHAM !!!

I just wish that people would wake up to what is happening in Washington right now. The progressive (which translates to the FAR left) wing of the Democratic party WILL be satisfied by this President. They are the controlling interest in all of this !

The "sneak" attacks by this administration just continue...just read the stimulus bill or the health bill......to your point...."Open and transparent government at its finest."

I love to listen to people that actually think and have read some history. Great post Donna. That was funny and thought provoking at the same time.

You know Bucco, it's like someone doing a magic trick. They try to get your attention focused entirely on one hand so you won't notice what the other hand is hiding.

Thank-you BK. I discovered Alfonzo's videos about a year ago. He is real good.
