Default Important Special Election in New York State

There is a special election coming up in the 26th congressional district of New York in ten days on May 24. The Republican candidate Jane Corwin has embraced Wisconsin’s congressman Paul Ryan’s plan to privatize Medicare. Congressman Ryan is making statements such as “empowering people to make their own choices” and "Medicare beneficiaries will be able to choose a plan the same way members of Congress do,". Further details about the special election are available in the May 14 issue of The Economist on page 38.

More details about Paul Ryan’s plan is available on:

Congressman Mitch McConnell has threatened the White House that Medicare reform will be tied to future debt ceiling decisions.

What does this mean for us?
Medicare is the backbone of most retirement plans. Medicare keeps the cost of those plans affordable.

Default If the Republicans have their way

Medicare as we know it will cease to exist. They have always been against Medicare. This goes back to Ronald Reagan who would have loved to have killed this program.
