Interesting Fact about McCain
John McCain said in an interview with Politico on Wednesday "that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own."
"I think -- I'll have my staff get to you," McCain said. "It's condominiums where -- I'll have them get to you." The answer, according to the group Progressive Accountability, is an even 10 homes, ranches, condos, and lofts, together worth a combined estimated $13,823,269. It reminds me of Bush years ago when he couldn't remember the price of milk, or that there were scanners in grocery markets. How can people like that be in touch enough to promote policies that will benefit the average American? |

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
The key to me is that he is uncertain. McCain is uncertain about a lot of things. Also, he's been coached and muzzled pretty tightly. My hope is that Obama rattles him enough during the upcoming debates to let the true personality of McCain appear. His temper is legendary in Washington. I saw it once on a clip and it ain't pretty folks. >

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
I am only responding to you two on this one to reinforce to you that I dont do this kind of political talk that you are trying to drum up. I will not get into a give and take with all the stuff out there on Sen Obama.
And this has been discussed all day on every channel and you should find Sen McCains response that even MSNBC thought was great |

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch: 'Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day, and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence. 'On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress. 'I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive. 'When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said, 'Praise the Lord.' And when the young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!' 'But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education, it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story. Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America? 'Would we?' Manuel Alvarez, Jr. Sandy Hook, VA |

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
Well, we've heard Senator Obama compared to everyone from Jesus to Castro. What to throw any more tripe his way. Talk about reaching. Excuse me but I don't want a President that can't even remember how many houses he owns, much less have his finger on the button. No McCain! No thanks!

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
Most of those homes are owned by his wife for their children who is worth 100 million on her own. And the number is 7 not 10. Also none of them were gotten with funds provided by a convicted felon Tony Resco in a land swap deal that begs a lot of questions. Seeing as Obama approved 14 million of your $$ for Tony to spend. And Obama's home is supposed to worth 1.6 million, so how in touch is he?

Re: Interesting Fact about McCain
Further information is that Cindy McCain has a prenup which shields both her holdings and her fortune from John McCain. This was also set up to dispel any hint of impropriety since the Keating Five incident years ago. McCain isn't even supposed to know what his wife has. These also are not all homes.
For Obama to even say such a stupid thing, shows that he is in full panic mode after his poor showing at Saddleback Civil Forum. Tony Rezko comes to mind as well. Obama is young yet, but you can bet his fortunes will surpass McCain. Obama's friends like Soros, Kennedy, Kerry, Pilosi, Reid, et al far surpass John McCain with or without his wife's money. Come on folks, get real here. Smoke screens are not necessary. Let's just stay with questions to both candidates like the Saddleback Civil Forum. AND REMAIN CIVIL. I want honest, candid answers and not this campaign trail talking points BS. Obama needs to grow up in knowledge and maturity to get my vote. |

The ladies last evening who have never DISCUSSED anything were just frustrated as they think (at least I think I know what they are thinking) that Sen Obama is being wrongly critiqued and most importantly that his past associates and mentors have no relevance ! |

Bin Ladin was the answer and who asked the question Al Gore. The only problem was IT NEVER HAPPENED. Then there was the open letter email alleging that Obama avoided the troops on his trip. UNTURE We should vote on the issues....not out of fear. Still not voting for either....But I will vote on the Senate, House and Local issues |

Issues...Issues...Issues...
Why aren't we spending our time discussing the real issues that will impact on our voting decision?
Or, if you've already made up your mind and are only using this forum to throw mud at "your" candidate's opponent...why don't you save your time as well as ours? There are lots of issues that we ought to consider during the 69 days or so until we have to vote. I've posted this one in another political thread here, but here's a question that certainly justifies some thought and discussion... In the past eight years the federal treasury has moved from a balanced budget to a pattern of annual spending exceeding revenues so dramatically that a deficit of almost $10 trillion dollars has resulted. The U.S. has become the largest debtor nation in the world by a significant measure. Our economy has suffered. The value of the U.S. dollar has reached a historical low point. Consumer confidence is at a similar low. U.S. citizens have little or no confidence in either the executive branch or the Congress. Barack Obama has presented a variety of campaign proposals without clearly delineating how they would be paid for. Adoption of such proposals would further increase the deficit. John McCain says he will continue the fiscal policies of the past eight years and has made further tax cuts an important plank in his campaign platform. Financial experts have opined that neither candidate can fulfill their campaign promises without further increases in the federal deficit and that either dramatic spending cuts or significant increases in tax revenues will be necessary to begin to reduce the national debt. Which candidate do you think will more effectively address this issue? Why? |
