Explain what's wrong with my reasoning that the businesses who provide employee tax coverage will choose the cheaper route of pay the less costly fines (oops, I did it again, I mean taxes) than to provide the much more expensive health coverage.

I think it is a no brainer and that most agree that any company who has less than 50 employees will drop the insurance. That is just a fact of life....larger employers not so sure

It's just a bit of reasoning, is all. I might be wrong; maybe business owners in this age of Obamanation have become very altruistic and are not motivated by profit anymore.

I've been retired for over 4 years and things could have changed.

There's another law that applies to the "will we or won't we" provide health insurance question. It's called the law of supply and demand.

A small company who makes the arithmetic decision that it would be cheaper to drop insurance as a benefit and simply pay the fine might over a short period of time find itself with a lot of employees leaving and a very difficult time replacing them with a poorly-thought out pay-and-benefits package.

Question. Does The Act specify how long an employee must be employed by "small business" before they must be insured?

I really believe for a number of reasons that job growth will just stop for a bit !!

Obama will raise your taxes directly or indirectly just a few examples
a "cadillac tax" on high cost plans, an individual mandate tax on americans who Do NOT purchase government approved health, an increase in the 7.5% AGI floor for medical expenses deductions to 10%, limits on flexible spending accounts in cafeteria plans, increased penalties for nonqualified HSA distributions, restrictions on health savings accounts, health reimbursement accounts and flexible spending accounts, a tax on tanning services, an employer mandate tax, a sales tax on medical devices, a tax on health insurance premiums, a tax on prescription drugs, a tax on insured and self insured health plans and on and on.
bottom line Doctors will leave practices, Employers will not hire because of health care laws, government will control you cradle to grave as Obama is aiming for, you Will have Medical rationing (and that's you Mr and mrs Senior citizens) long waits for surgeries, etc... Your losing your freedoms, your losing your choice, your losing access to the best healthcare system in the world. Are you beginning to get the picture??? Second, in this Obamaconomy, where are the employees going? To other employers who are doing or probably will be doing the same thing as not carrying employee health insurance becomes de rigueur and standard practice?

I'm under the impression that everyone must be insured in this new Obamareality.
