Really? Let me state this one more time and see if you can grasp it.

Republicans have won the presidency, both houses of congress, 66% of all governorships and 64% of all state legislatures.

What else would be required to declare a mandate from the American people?

Except for the 46% plurality, and the fact that no DC high school marching bands have applied to participate in the inauguration, none of the rest of this is true. You simply do not have those facts and are just giving what you surmise.

As far as DC high school bands, Washington DC is one of the most liberal cities in the country. This is like saying no bands from San Francisco or Provincetown, Massachusetts have applied to march. Ridiculous!

None of the ultra liberal Hollywood elite are going to appear either. Guess what? NO ONE CARES! This small percentage of people have been telling us how to think and how to vote for too long and too many people have finally stood up and said enough.

And of course, the percentage of the popular vote is meaningless. But I guess the liberals and democrats have to keep bringing it up since it's the only thing they "won". In other words, they won a contest that wasn't being run.

If it were a popular vote election, the campaigns would be run very differently. Trump knew what he had to do to win and Hillary evidently couldn't figure it out. I believe that if it were an election based on popular vote, he would have figured out how to win that as well. Because that's what he does, He figures out how to win.

Keep on ignoring the fact that Americans voted for republicans in a huge way at every level of government if it makes you feel better. But the fact is that Republicans, including Donald Trump have a very clear mandate.

Please, please, please keep believing this mandate stuff while Trump repeals Obamacare, effectively pulling the rug out from under 22 million enrollees and ends Medicare, another 55 million being thrown under the bus.

Trump pledges to do this in hour one of his administration, which will give the insurance companies time to mail those cancellation notices to anyone with private insurance, effective Feb 1, 2017.

The GOP has had six years to come up with their replacement plan and all we hear are crickets. Now their motto is 'Let them eat cake'.

The GOP had a replacement plan in 2009 but they were locked out of the process. As a matter of fact I remember reading at least three of them. One that I recall that was pretty short and sweet was originated by Sen Burr and co-authored bipartisan.

I really would love for you to quit showing your @ss by saying that getting rid of ObieCare is going to get rid of Medicare and Social Security. When will you ever learn Jan, that the cure for your foot in mouth disease is to step back from the keyboard?

A mandate by any other name is a mandate

Now ain't that the truth. How anyone can associate celebrity with intellectual prowess is beyond me. Well Sean Penn said...and it must be true because Paris Hilton said it too.

The founders intentionally made the process of policy making slow and arduous . However the partisan divide should not be so wide that we the people suffer fools

Progressive posters claim their was no mandate. Setting aside the proverbial "depends on whose ox is being gored", consider this.

By every measure, campaign finance, media bias favoritism, manipulation, etc., extended celebrity exposure for Hillary and against Trump, endorsement from a sitting president, manipulation of the DNC in favor of their favorite daughter Trump, an inexperienced politician won. Trump beat out 17 well known Republicans in the primary and the ubiquitous Queen of the Democratic party in a fair election

An honest and serious person would ask why. An honest and serious poster would tell you with the exception of California and New York the country wanted a hard right turn in direction because they believed we were moving in the wrong direction.

In my humble view it is a mandate/rejection against the progressive Democrat Party Platform that has imprisoned this nation for 8 years

Obamacare will be repealed and replaced with something that will actually work. Obamacare was a gift to the insurance companies and although 22 more people were insured, a percentage of them were done so against their will. Many of the lower tier programs in the exchanges are not worth the money that are paid for them. A huge percentage of those who bought insurance through the exchanges have seen their premiums raised as much as 125% while deductibles have risen.

It would be a good thing if 22 million people who wanted insurance were able to get it only if the could afford it. One of the biggest reasons that the Affordable Care Act has failed is that it is not affordable for either the insured or the government who is subsidizing some of them.

It's pretty easy to add a bunch of people to the list of insured when you make it a crime to not have insurance and have the government pay for a good number of them. The trick will be lowering the cost of health care so that almost everyone can afford coverage and then covering the very small number of people who can't afford it.

Two very separate issues but both very high on the GOP's list of things to do, along with privatizing Social Security and the VA.

Not familiar with Sen Burr's initiative, in other words republicans got nothing.

It's just plain unaffordable to simple add...to insure 22 million people...for free. It gets thrown on the taxpayers backs.

"Medicine" is an industry, a for profit industry...good luck getting the costs down. The problem is everyone charges/gets paid too much.

It's foolish to offer free healthcare to people who rely solely on the government for their lives. Why heal someone who the government provides housing, food, a phone, EVERYTHING they need to survive? It's crazy. It's like giving life sentence prisoners life saving healthcare.

Saving the poor is what is dragging the country down. The minorities are becoming the majority, from age 6 down they ARE the majority. The country is decaying, diversity is destroying us. Quotas are destroying us. From #1 to #25...and falling.

One can only hope for that. I wish someone would have thought to privatize SS a long time ago. And you are too late with privatizing the VA. There already IS an option to be treated by private providers IF the distance is unreasonable for gov service. Folks here in The Villages have been referred to local private medical providers. So, dont' get your panties in a wad, because it works.

I can hardly fault you for being too ignorant or blind to know about any other "initiatives" by the right. After all, the left is blind, period. At least, you seem blind since you are always led around by your superiors.

So is the right. You're also very gullible too...believing in an invisible man who lives in space, who knows everything, created everything...and spies on us so we can be separated into "good" and "no good" upon death.

God bless us all in the new year. Especially our new president, and the anti Trump movement, may they see the light of law and order.
