Ya see how the politics work?
The thread is about Obama's aid. The last eleventy six posts were all about who said what yesterday and countered with who did not say what.

I was interested in hearing opinions about the thread not a urinating contest over who violated what or not.

In sterling political fashion much energy and waste of time with other "stuff" thus keeping others off the subject in question....hence many get disgusted and go else where rather that listen to the school yard antics of a few.

I am sorry if anyone took offense at the suggestion that we hold off on the political posts yesterday, but it was never intended to be arrogant. In fact if I had known it would upset people to the point that it did, I probably would not have posted it.
My only intention was to observe 9/11 in light of what unites, not divides us, and it seems that political posts too often bring out some very negative responses and reactions.
I have the utmost respect for anyone interested enough to want to discuss the real issues in an election, regardless of stance. You will notice that I rarely post in the political forum (although I have posted on economic and financial issues, my real interest!).
The divisiveness I have seen in this particular election saddens me, and it was my feeling that any posts that might possibly be construed as partisan be held off for 24 hours. On Wednesday evening, a few people had suggested that, and since no one posted an objection I, too, felt it was a good idea. Live and learn.
But as was well stated by another poster, this is America, and we are all entitled to freedom of speech.

TRAVEL....nobody said it was not a good idea that the 4/5 folks had. MY objection was throwing in the face of, and those are my words..not anyone elses....basically reminding someone that they posted on 9/11 as if it were some kind of wrong or something..that was my objection.....it just did not seem fair to MUCCI to have that comment even expressed and especially after VILLAGEKAHUANA started a few threads during the day and nobody...NOT ONE PERSON said a word. That is NOT anything negative about VILLAGEKAHUANA EITHER...just making my point

To clarify since you dont seem to still get it....nobody took offense to what you and 4 others decided to post or do...had NOTHING to do with that !

Now, as far as political divisiveness is concerned is not exclusive to this election by any stretch of the imagination...I would be curious how you would feel that way after two elections ripe with charges of actually stealing elections. No, this is not as divisive as those in my opinion.

Having said that....the divide between parties is greater than ever. To me, and this is me, after the 2000 elections it was just going to be that way as long as the person who many felt should not be President was in office. That is just my opinion and that cloud has been hanging over the WH since !

I would hope you would see the world wide facts as they are.* There are not numerous acts of Islamic violence per day around the world because Robert Spencer says there are while Karen Armstrong insists Islamists are peace loving teddy bears.* Such daily acts of Islamic violence is reality.* Armstrong spits in the face of reality.* Spencer points out reality.* For that you (or others) call him an Islamist hate monger - for bringing the truth to our attention???? :dontknow:* That is a bad case of head in sand.

I really don't care what anyone else was doing on 9-11. And I'm not upset with anyone. But the suggestion that it is inconsiderate to discuss the genesis of the 9-11 tragedy on 9-11 seemed a bit like being unhappy discussing the birth of Christ on Christmas day because we just prefer "spending time with our families." That makes no sense. The genesis of 9-11 is Islamist extremists who feel it their duty to destroy America. I pointed out a consultative relationship between a presidential candidate and an individual who is very likely an ally of a radical Islamic front in this country. That is certainly related to 9-11 and worthy of our awareness if not discussion on that day - while we are with friends, family, and on the internet.
