Default Obamacare fails big time in Kentucky

Read the report generated by Deloitte and the Univ of Louisville. Obamacare Medicaid expansion (called Kynect in Kentucky) failed in every facet of what it was predicted to do.

Anyone surprised? Good thing here in Florida our leadership has avoided falling for the propaganda.

Why has this Obamacare not been repealed? Congress has voted 55 times to repeal it. We look forward to the days when insurance companies can once again deny insurance to people with existing conditions.

Governor Scott got it right when he denied insurance to one million people, and now our federal tax dollars are being sent to states, like KY, which expanded Medicaid. Hurrah!

The Supreme Court decision later this spring will kick all these poor republicans off their insurance, many of who have it for the first time.

Actually, I think a variant of it failed in Tennessee some years ago. It was called TennCare and went bust pretty quickly.

Gee ...what a surprise?

Obamacare is economically unsustainable. In a few short years it will implode.

Speaking of which… What do a divorce in Kentucky and a tornado in Florida have in common?

Ans: In the beginning there's a lot of blowing and sucking, but in the end someone's gonna lose a trailer!

Sounds as many of the ones who believe in the Constitution have forgot that the Supreme Court has declared the Affordable Care Act to be the law of the land.

BTW, my premium went up $1.09 per month.

So much talk of repeal and for so long. You would think by now there would be a viable replacement plan in the offing. But just bluster and whining. And endless wasting of time. It's amazing how much this President has accomplished against such a backdrop.

Poor choice of words.
The law of the land has become selective enforcement of convenience.

As in ILLEGAL immigration. In which case breaking the laws brings individual rewards and amenities. Even includes being able to vote which used to be illegal.
Crossing the border with no documentation.....no problem c'mon in.....terrorist too.

Law of the land has earned a hollow ring....more like clunk!

The prediction was that Obamacare Medicaid expansion was add 150,000 people in Kentucky. Instead in the first year it added over 300,000.

The prediction was that expanding Medicaid would ADD 15.6 billion to Kentucky's economy by 2021. They were only off by 15 billion dollars as the expansion is now projected to add over 30 billion to Kentucky's economy.

Study: Ky. Medicaid expansion showing benefits

New evidence shows Medicaid expansion has major benefits. Will conservative states listen? - The Washington Post

The prediction was that Medicaid expansion would create about 17,000 new jobs in Kentucky. Wrong again, it is now going to provide 40,000 new jobs with an average wage of $41,000

In the first 3/4 of the year, Kentucky hospitals have had a decrease in the cost of unpaid care of over 1 Billion dollars.

Yes Obamacare has failed to do all the terrible things that were predicted, and instead is doing better than even its supporters had predicted. It is wonderful that we don't have such a system here in Florida.

Republicans have only had since 2009 to come up with their replacement plan, but why rush. Remember the 'repeal and replace' mantra, but their only replacement seems to be let people die and blame Obama.

In the mean time, Florida is sending five billion dollars a year of our federal tax dollars to states that expanded Medicaid, like Kentucky, Arizona, Arkansas (not exactly blue states).

Where federal, state, and local goverments are supplying tax payer provided medical care to so many it insures a single payer system is on horizon with an added tax on all to pay for it, as it should. Right now the cost of medical services used today are being passed to next generation, kind of like buying groceries with a payday loan.

Most of the posters on this forum seem to approve of their single-payer system of socialized medicine, commonly known as Medicare. Whether this system would work for all, is anybody's guess.

Is that the same Supreme Court that has periodically said enforce US immigration laws? Just askin ... but no problem, just invite 10-20 million more illegal aliens into the Country, and give them Obamacare. Guaranteed not to have any financial impact and things will be peachy, plus "no borders" will help reduce liberal guilt over various issues.

Who are we to say to foreigners ... stay out unless you come in legally?

That is the rub no one wants to discuss. Medicare as it is now is not being paid for, can we do the same for everyone and how to pay for it?

I clicked on your link and read the report. Did you read the same report? Based on the data, the results in Kentucky surpassed expectations. More people are covered than expected. More savings were realized than forecast. Based on the report you cite, I do not understand how you conclude that the program was an absolute failure???? Kentucky is expected to realize over $30 billion in savings (according to the report you cite) over the next 6 years. You don't think FL could use an extra $30B? I understand how lots of people wanted the ACA to fail. I even can marginally understand why they might make up there own facts to prove it failed. I do not understand how you can cite a report that proves it works and then claim the report says it does not work.

For those of you who feel this report justifies abolishing the ACA, you should go read the report and maybe find some other report to use because the report cited would be proof that the ACA should be expanded.
