Having lived in Tampa some 17 years ago, the Tampa Bay Times used to be the St Pete Times in Pinellas County, one of the oldest newspapers in nation, and with a liberal leaning. In Tampa, we had the Tampa Tribune in Hillsborough County, with a more conservative leaning. At some point in recent time, the Tribune folded and the St Pete Times bought them out, taking over circulation for the whole of Tampa Bay – and changing its name to Tampa Bay Times.

When I lived in Orlando prior to my moving to TV five years ago, the Sentinel was considered a more conservative newspaper.

Is there anything else you'd like to know about Central Florida newspapers' editorial pages?

Historically it may have been a Conservative paper but it has supported Democratic Presidential candidates two out of three past elections.. See here;

Apparently the Orlando Sentinel and voters have short memories. When progressive Obama took office in 2008 he did so with a progressive majority in both Houses and America has not recovered yet from the damage they inflicted on its citizens. Just on principle voters should split their vote to ensure the separation of powers stays in play.

Most pundits believe Hillary has the electoral college locked up already. Whether that is a result of the popular vote or a rigged system doesn't matter because no one will ever be able to prove otherwise. So it means that the the safe bet is to maintain both houses in Republican hands; otherwise Clinton's policies and regulations will only result in the same dismal performance as Obama

Personal Best Regards:

Hedging on the "rigged" system is a desperate fallback. And just parroting others trying to discredit our country's basic right.

Vote for Patrick Murphy

Vote for Murphy is a vote to stop obstructionism. A vote for Murphy is a vote to have someone show up to represent You

Rubio will win. Murphy does not have a chance, no matter how much liberals stomp their feet.

Would you please explain your comment to me? It's ambiguous to those of us who don't know the dynamics between the two of you. And, may I ask how this relates to Orlando Sentinel endorsement of Patrick Murphy.

I'm trying to stay on topic here!

You most conveniently forget that gerrymandering was how the repubs got control of the house of representatives. I guess the electoral college was rigged when 41, 43, reagan and the other repub presidents were elected.

Dear Guest: I just posted a new political talk thread explaining rigged elections from a recent article which I share with readers. I believed the author because I believe the system is rigged. and I believe the system is rigged because the political class which replaced the ruling class (aristocracy) long ago have little confidence in our ability to chose for ourselves.

I am very disappointed with the Republican party because too many of them turned red er blue coats. I am especially upset with those nominee's who took the pledge at the first primary debate to support the Republican nominee and in some cases supporting crooked Hillary

Bottom line for me is what will this nation be if Hillary is elected and the answer is obvious it will be a nation no more because she will continue the Obama agenda and turn America into a version of the European Union along with its out of control immigration spending and hedonistic ways. Its as obvious as the nose on our beloved Jimmy Durante's face. Add to that Hillary actually believe the purpose for the Supreme Court is to be a populous machine. Its no wonder the progressive greeted Justice Scalia's death which such glee.

I will vote Trump and I will vote straight Republican because the alternative is unthinkable. Murphy hasn't a chance in hell of holding back the radical progressive insane agenda that is about to plague us because he will be swept away.

Trump is not my choice my hope was that Romney would step up because he is the only voice of reason to have appeared. However the cards have been dealt and what makes Trump bad makes him good and he is a start in breaking up this ruling political class and their hobby lobby buddies.

Finally if we do have a Hillary win think of what we are telling the world. We are saying that a woman with the reputation equal to that of corrupt Brazilian President Dilma Rousleff who at this very moment is being indicted for her corruption is being selected to lead the only remaining superpower and having the greatest influence over the so called civilized world meaning we are as corrupt as any third world banana republic

And we haven't even addressed the liberal media that Master Switch that controls most of what we read see, hear and they are so far let leaning and corrupt they have lost their credibility as well.

Personal Best Regards:

May I kindly suggest you please read the endorsement first. It will dispute your misguided premise posted here. The ORLANDO SENTINEL had endorsed Rubio for years. It chose not to in this election with logical examples to support its decision.

I say that The Orlando Sentinel is heavily biased left and has been as long as we have lived here.

Is anyone ever influenced in their voting decision by a newspaper endorsement? If so, they must be pretty ignorant.
