Lightbulb PART II: Seniors

IN GOD WE TRUST

Everybody that is on this blog is either a senior citizen, is getting close, or knows somebody that is.

Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus" bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle, was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement.

Bloomberg: "Daschle says health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.

Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out. Talk it up at the grassroots level. We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. We have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we can make our voices heard! Let's do it!

If you disagree, don't do anything.

Angry It is NUTS.

OK..If this does not scare seniors then I give up..!! Abortion is in the bill and now going after senior's. As I recall we would now have the Government deciding who is to live and die. This would only be the beginning. It would be the initial start with more to come. Which desease is worth treating, (e.g. odds on survial, etc.etc.etc.).
I believe the country has gone NUTS and somehow it has to stop.

"A provision in President Obama's health care reform bill encourages "end-of- life" counseling for seniors -- sparking euthanasia fears among some of the legislation's critics and leading others to believe that the White House is looking to save money by pressuring insurers to provide less coverage to seniors.

The provision, tucked deep within the House bill, would provide Medicare coverage for an end-of-life consultation every five years, and more frequent sessions if a person is suffering a life-threatening disease.

Health providers would be required to explain to seniors the end-of-life services available, including "palliative care and hospice."

"This provision may start us down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia if enacted into law," House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich. said in a statement last month."

Best guess is that all of this "end of life counseling" will be provided by grants to organizations like AARP, La Raza, Casa of ____, ACORN, and possibly major unions to their members. It's a great way to make/continue political friendships through public grants.

Are you saying that ACORN thugs could be counseling me at my bedside? I hope they leave their clubs at the door.

What I'm saying is that a slew of organizations which are not "medical" or "legal" seem to be pushing HR 3200, and this provision would be a way to funnel money to them for "services." If the item becomes law as-is, HHS would find itself dispensing money for these services to any agency which meets whatever criteria (again, one of those "nasty details") HHS determines. It definitely is a "golden goose" clause.

That may explain why AARP is on the HR 3200 bandwagon and promoting it so heavily. Other organizations, because they reach selected populations, are naturals.

Lightbulb AARP Not for Seniors

It is interesting to note that AARP have a significant number of people on their payroll and the objective of the AARP is to "grow". Like any other Corporation the bottom line is revenue as opposed to values. The AARP does not have a soul yet some want view it as some charitable organization looking out for the Seniors. Nothing could be further from the truth. If there are so many seniors willing to fight against the bill why would the AARP side with the group who call these people thugs, and other names even worse. As they say "follow the money"..The AARP is looking for money and that is not in line with the seniors benifits.
