All of these railings and the uber-conservatives are still gladly accepting their Social Security checks every month and their Medicare treatments. Ask them and they say, "we paid for them". Pull up your big boy pants and accept the fact, you are in favor of socialism when it benefits you.

Without Social Security, a goodly portion of you wuber-conservatives would probably be sitting by the side of the hiway underpass in your home of a refrigerator carton because you saved NOTHING during your working career.

All of you should be thanking Social Security for your checks every month and you will probably draw out much more than you every put in the system.

Absolutely right on. :ho:

"Anti-american in philosophy and ideals".

Not sure what you mean with this. I would say that the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and The Federalist Papers represent the Founding Fathers thoughts and ideals.

Many readers have labelled them "socialist" when asked on the street where certain quotes come from.

Federalist Papers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
General Welfare clause - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alexander Hamilton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I wonder what Allen West would do with Alexander Hamilton's ideas? They do look very much like those found in some "socialist" writings.

Your "many readers" are quite ignorant.

Ridiculous argument. Nobody has a choice in their participation into this program which was scammed into practice as an "insurance program" and then unconscionably transformed in it's present day "entitlement" by the "Godfather of Socialist Democrats"

Money was forcibly extracted from the paychecks of every working American to fund this "insurance program/entitlement" with the promise that they would get back this money on retirement.

I know I've won the Socialist argument with a Socialist Democrat when they bring up Social Security.

I am sure that insulting the greatest percentage of Village residents was your intent and you accomplished that.

WOW...knowing that SS does not come from income tax but only from those who work in payroll taxes really makes your insult to all that worked hard all their life even more bitter to take.

How you folks are so wise and know all the stuff you pronounce is just astounding....I suppose insulting people is reserved for those of you who simply KNOW it all....I find the insult and the accompanying agreements and rounds of applause quite telling.

This statement "Without Social Security, a goodly portion of you wuber-conservatives would probably be sitting by the side of the hiway underpass in your home of a refrigerator carton because you saved NOTHING during your working career." should really put the majority of Villages residents on notice that you are on to them.

I should have watched my Democrat workmates to see how it is done.

Wrong Again, Richie. It is amazing that these rantings by the wuber-conservatives always hinge on the same thing. "I had to pay but it was not fair." You know in your little heart (on the left side of your chest) that if it was not for Social Security that many, many of (yes) your fellow ranters would not be retired today but still working because they did not save money.

It is always fun to hear your rants, Richie, keep it up. Looking forward to seeing you soon at the watering hole so we can talk about this in person over an ice-cold Yeungling. Laughing is healthy and you are keeping me healthy!:1rotfl:

Do you mean Teddy or Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the "Godfather of Social Democrats"?

Of course you have a choice for participating in the program. In fact, you have a perfect opportunity now that you are 62 (from your TOTV profile) to show us all what what a fool you are by simply not applying for Social Security now that you're becoming eligible. Or, apply and we'll know what a hypocrite you are.

I hope that someday some folks will come on here and talk about the things that are important instead of taking personal cheap shots at other posters or those in the news.

Probably not going to happen....suppose there is much to be gained within yourself by making fun.....oh well

Bucco,
Can you honestly tell me that Social Security is not a good thing? Can you honestly tell me you believe that all or most all Americans would have saved a good portion of their monthly paycheck and would have enough money saved to carry them comfortably from retirement until death? Social security is a safety net. Some people live entirely on it in retirement, though.

Social Security also provides for living expenses for widows and children.

What would you propose for those that did not do so? Would you be content to see them penniless and homeless? No, you would not as that would be inhumane and callous.

You should take me on my invite to join RichieLion and a few others at the watering hole for light discussion and ice-cold Yeunglings.

All I can HONESTLY say is...I dont know how it would be without it.

I was given no choice and thus as I aged it became part of my planning and I would assume those who you have attacked and assailed on here because they collect SS would have done the same.

When a president proposed a discussion on choice of how this is done, he was ridiculed and laughed at, so I cannot answer your question as it was part of what the government took and promised in return. No choice came my way on it and it was part of my retirement planning.

Why you find it necessary to attack folks on this issue as if they had a choice is beyond me. I am betting most are in the same boat as me...nobody asked..government mandated it..thus I used it in my planning.

Not only did it become part of MY planning but it became part of my company's planning for my retirement income. At age 65, my retirement income went down by the amount that SS was going to pay me at age 65.

The same with Medicare. When I turned 65, Medicare became my primary health insurance and my company provided health insurance became my secondary health insurance.

To me it is an entitlement only if you did not work and deposit large sums of money into SS and Medicare all of your working life and all you do is put your hand out and say "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!"

Still ridiculous and off subject. This addressing of Social Security, which you brought into this discussion, was on the nature of it, period.

Whether I would have used the money to better purpose is irrelevant to this discussion in the context in which you initiated it.

So, we're back to diversion and ridicule when the absence of facts don't support your contentions. (I am addressing all lefties here, and not just you)

Your deviation from your own point is a bit laughable.
