You want examples? I'll give you examples.
A republican women's group with Obama's face on a donkey pictured on a food stamp with watermelons, fried chicken, ribs and more: http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/s...6.3d67d4a.html The Marietta GA bar owner selling Obama-as-a-monkey t-shirts and sees "nothing racist" about it: http://www.barackoblogger.com/2008/0...ls-racist.html Hiw about saying that Obama is the next Hitler, Mao and Stalin all in one with some of the most ridiculous claims and demagoguery I've ever seen: http://www.pamshouseblend.com/diary/...on-black-storm "Republicanmarket" has a booth at the GOP convention selling racist pins: http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.c...pin-in-it.html Someone in New Jersey thought it was a good idea to distribute leaflets to people's homes - up to 4,000 of them (this would probvably be the lunatic fringe - no named organization came out for this one): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/0..._n_128862.html This is what I found in a fraction of a second. Now, I don't have access to the video libraries that I've seen on cable where people were marching around with the Obama-face-on-Hitler signs, etc. But it's not hard AT ALL to find this stuff. You all saw it (as did I) when the liberals did it to Bush - but you haven't seen any of it when the conservatives do it to Obama? And to villagegolfer in particular - it's one thing to ask me for examples of what I'm talking about, like Bucco did, and I'm happy to explain as soon as I have time. But you just assumed I couldn't back it up and proceeded to name-calling. You kind of jumped the gun there. Heck, I disagree with RichieLion a LOT but it's quite civil. ..and about the "you liberals"? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and simply believe you don't know me very well and haven't read too deep into my posts. Explain to me how I'm one of those "liberals" when: - I support a flat tax. - I support 2nd Ammendment AMONG OTHERS. Although I don't own a gun anymore, my wife does and I believe it is the right of every law-abiding American to defend themselves. - I support limits on welfare - I support enforcement of our immigration laws. - I support vouchers in school choice programs. - I support free speech, even (and sometime ESPECIALLY) if it's not Politically Correct. - Although I support gay marriage, I also believe that no church should be forced to perorm such a ceremony if it goes against their religious dogma. I could go on, but I hope you get my point. |

Sir, I do not know you very well, but I see you many times defending Obama and liberals so I assumed you were one of them. If you are not, then I apologize. |

Villagegolfer,
Typical republican diversionary tactic. If you have no facts or logic to back up an argument so you switch gears. You crack me up. Come on, man up. Stick to the subject. |

Secondly, I cannot think of a campaign for President that did not make fun of the "roots" of the participant, whether it be because they were from Texas, Tenn, Florida or whatever. To your point, you sure can get the hate from both sides on this wonderful internet and it WAS THAT WAY BEFORE OBAMA,...and sadly will continue well after him. I abhor racism and always have.....I am, however being totally made insensitive to it as it has become not only a pure one way street, but since President Obama became a serious candidate a oft used charge. On this forum during the election campaign I was called names you just would not believe by PM because I opposed this President. I never once mentioned or alluded to race, but my opposition was based on race according to those people. Heard Maxine Waters, a member of our United States Congress today, telling the Tea Parties to "go to hell".....gee, I consider that as bad or worse when you consider the wish and the source !!!! I opposed and still do President Obama because of his background and training...his questionable associates and his total and complete lack of understanding of this job....and since elected his complete lack of understanding why he got elected. His misreprentations and...to be kind...misstatements...NONE HAVE TO DO WITH RACE !! With all due respect, your post appealed to that part of us that I truely object to....pushing the buttons that will cause the most emotion. Those who are truely racist dont care...yet you will find no fault with Rep Waters saying what she said. I suppose I am more upset with your post since you give such credence to such small reports (AND people) and ignore others. For me the race card is so overdone and so overused to put people on some kind of guilt trip. Thanks for your response...I appreciate the links.... |

My apologies to VILLAGEGOLFER and thank you to IAUDIT for making it clear to me.in
While the main content of my post was to DJPLONG, which I think he will recognize, I suppose I should have made a link to anythings said by VILLAGEGOLFER !! In any case, sorry for the confusion |

PLEASE BE PATIENT and check post 45 as while it may show it as a response to VILLAGEGOLFER, it was in fact a reply to your note. Sorry |

:agree: I agree with more then this... But I particularly agree with this. I think the confusion may come in with freethinkers. You want us to fit in a pigeon hole and we don't... We won't agree with each other either.. We are freethinkers!! We think for ourselves! We REALLY don't fit party lines!!! |

I'm far more middle-of-the-road. The thing I detest most is the double-standard. It gets my dander up to see people treating Obama the same way the left treated Bush. There are the same problems and NEITHER side, as they are currently constructed, is able to function anymore - it's ALL partisan politics, the good of the country be damned. And that's what I see - a *lot* of double standard. I will admit, given current circumstances, I defend Obama a lot more. But I also defended Boehner until he caved to the Tea Party when he had a 3-1 ratio in spending cuts (including the sacred cows) to tax increases. By the same token, I will not resort to calling Tea Partiers "Tea *******" (although if there was a REAL out there moonbat, I might be tempted - and by that, one who makes even crazier statements that Bachmann or O'Donnell) |

Again, it's the hyper-partisanship. Never mind that the Tea Party started off at least with some VERY real concerns that really DO need to be part of the debate. But, to be honest, I've never been a fan of hers (or most Democrats). |

In any case, I agree there is hyper-partisanship on both sides and in many different degrees. I will ignore that you just had to give the Tea Party a shot in your post...you just cannot resist :) Not a supporter of the Tea Party in its entirety at all...just question the value of your comment in discussing Waters. My problem and what gets to me is the constant race issue, which seems to be completely onesided and used only when "cornered". It never seems to be race with the Congressional Black Caucus....theiir agenda seems to be blessed. Perhaps we need a CONSTITUTIONAL CAUCUS or a CAUCASIAN CAUCUS or even a NOCHEATING ON YOUR SPOUSE CAUCUS. |
Being an indepenent thinker I believe that our current president is a US citizen, but is not eligible, according to the US Constitution to be president. You must be a "natural born citizen" not a "native born citizen." According to Obama's own book his father was NOT an US citizen, but his mother was, making him a "native born citizen" not a "natural born citizen." But....... see link below
Wikipedi link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural...._Constitution has this has never been qustion before and most courts have rejected this arguement about his citizenship. Settle this question then lets argue about the rest of the state of the union. |

Personally I think the Tea Party started out with real grass-roots concerns - there was a lot of disorganization which is *natural* in a situation like that. But I think a good percentage of the Tea Party has been hijacked by idealogues who put re-election over national good. I heard, during the back and forth, some politicians and pundits actualyy SAY that they COULD NOT vote for the "Grand Compromise" because they would lose their jobs in 2012. They put their jobs ahead of something where they would have had the overwhelming share of the 'win' in the negotiations and would have made a better 'down payment' on the deficit than what we got. Remember - the Tea Partiers were a MINORITY of a Party that had a slim majority in ONE branch of the legislature. |

Once again Thomas Sowell is someone with whom I agree while Jessee jackson and for that matter Jesses James leave me flat. I laugh with Jon Dailey but Bill Maher totally annoys me. Barack Obama annoys me not because he is black/white but because he is incompetent. But the reality of that fact is just too much for liberals to accept and so they default to their state of denial like they do with so many other issues. |
