When I grew up, my neighbor hood was multi racial and multi ethnic. We were however of one culture. Relatively poor surviving Americans. We all were proud of our heritages but more proud to be Americans. We saluted the flag, pledged allegiance, lit bon fires, paid taxes and all that stuff. As a result, I grew up to understand that we were all alike for the most part. As long as we were of the same culture, nothing else mattered like race, wealth, heritage, etc. We were All Americans. Albeit poor Americans but Americans. Even those who had a vowel at the end of their name and spoke broken English.

As a result of my upbringing I became a culturalist and I remain one today. I firmly believe that some cultures are better than others and that the Judeo Christian European culture that founded America was the best and produced a Great nation. I do not believe that multi-cultural ism has any place in America. Some people come here and want to remake America into the hell hole that they just escaped from. Go figure.

So, when I have been called a racist I have explained my view on the value of different cultures. Those who really care understand and recognize a sincere difference of opinion. Others just say "That's racist." You can never win with that kind.

To be a racist is to place a value on a trait that has no value. No intrinsic value exists in being white, black or (enter the color of your choice) To be a culturalist assigns a value to traits that count. Shared values, shared lifestyle and others. You know what I mean.

Just some thoughts.

Yoda, In our age of political correctness, even to suggest that "some cultures are better than others" demonstrates an element of personal courage to express and stand up for your convictions, that most would shy away from.... out of FEAR of retribution. This would be a great topic to debate and discuss on this forum. It is too bad that some have elected to close the door, and their minds to this type of discussion.

Your post made my day.... why???---> because everyday I hope to learn just 1 new tidbit about anything... Today I learned what a "culturalist" is and believes. Thanks.

Well said Yoda. When I worked for the government I valued the experience very much because I worked with a very diversified group of people (Scientists, intellectuals, etc.) They came from many different backgrounds and had many different opinions, but they too were culturalists because they "assigned values to traits that count"--i.e., work hard, study hard, have family values, etc. I consider myself to be fortunate. It was nice to be around people that did not judge people about how they looked or where they came from.

WELL SAID JOANNEJ.
I have many friends that are Liberals and a few that are in NDP party in Canada. I listen to them often and I realize they are as fervent in their beliefs as I am. I have many interesting conversations with them.
I am taken aback when things get a bit too heated they go back to.
Well your just a BIGGOT or a RACIST. I am neither.
