This should clear up the London comments. Now, let Mitt get back to more important issues.

Romney: 'I'm convinced' London is ready for the Games - TODAY in London

Yes, that statement is part of Willards apology. He is on his own apology tour of the UK.

When they refer to you as "worse than Palin" ..... well ...........

Why would you want the only person present--who has actually managed a safe, terrorism-free Olympics within a year of the horrific 9-11 attacks--to remain silent on the obvious, known security gaps in the London Olympics about to start?

It seems like the responsible thing to do with the event starting, instead of patting oneself on the back for having covered all the bases when they're not.

Better for some toes to be stepped on and for "heads to roll" in advance of a 911-scale terrorist attack, than for heads to literally roll out of burning, falling tons of concrete and steel.

Do you really think the American people want to hold their breath every time their president opens his mouth while traveling the world? We had that for eight years with George W Bush. The gaffes yesterday hurt only Mitt Romney, but had he been on official business, he could have created real rifts between the US and Great Britain. Hopefully, he won't tell any Polish jokes while in Poland.

do you really think the american people don't hold their breath when obama goes to a meet and greet with foreign dignataries after he bowed to the king of saudi arabia and his wife shook hands with and hugged the queen of england, verbally alienates israel - one of our strongest allies and forgets that he is still miked when speaking to others? i know that i do!

i bet he won't refer to the nazi death camps as polish death camps while he is in poland.

One poster wrote about President Obama, "...and forgets that he is still miked when speaking to others?"

Obviously she forgot about the FAMOUS gaffe by Ronnie Reagan when he was miked for the weekly radio broadcast and said, "We will begin bombing Russia in 5 minutes."

it is so obvious the partisans have only one view, one memory, one message, one train of thought D= good no matter what and R = bad no matter what.

It certainly must be easier to communicate in that mode...no discrimination of good or bad or right or wrong required, just parrot the message....no matter what.

How many days have we been going now with none of the major issues facing this country being put up for discussion?

One hundred days until the election.....99 of them for dirt digging, mud slinging, name calling and just plain stupid stuff (all political tactics....some obviously much better at it than others as that is all they do....no matter what!!).

It is almost a waste of time looking to this forum for a discussion of ANYTHING that affects America or we the people. There isn't even any humor in any of it anymore.

If one takes into account those who have given up on the forum plus those that are blocked....pretty small group that is left.....what a pity...what a loss.

Fox News - Willard's gaffe "Unbelievable", "Beyond Human Understanding", "Incomprehensible".

you can ONLY be referring to my post - and why cite that when my post was about obama's gaffes?

Looks like a MSNBC talking head, RichieLion. Fox News would have a different take on this. And, then CNN would have yet another.

I cited that to show that gaffes happen to every President. Ronnie Reagan was miked up when he joked around about bombing Russia. You had a problem with Pres. Obama being miked up when talking. Even your great Ronnie Reagan made mistakes. Don't be so critical of one President without being able to accept a criticism of another.

i didn't have the problem - obama DID! reagan is dead - i see no need to criticize him any more.

Romney is in London because his wife is leading the American delegation, it's not a campaign stop. From what I understand he is not even staying for the competition because he doesn't want to draw attention away from the sport.

In my opinion the media should cut him a break and let Ann Romney enjoy her moment.

Not sure where you got Romney's wife as leading the US delegation. It is her partly owned horse which is in the Olympics in dressage. How the Romneys put USA Olympic equestrian team on the map | Sport | guardian.co.uk

The First Lady Michelle Obama is the leader of the US Olympic delegation which is customary at the Olympics to have a US sitting elected politician as the leader of the US delegation. http://www.startribune.com/sports/ol...6.html?refer=y

"Other first ladies who have led recent U.S. Olympic delegations include Hillary Clinton at Lillehammer in 1994 and Laura Bush at Turin in 2006". From the Star-Tribune linked article.

Having the US President at the Olympics would be a security headache to many involved unless his visit--if it happens--is kept on the down low. You have to give President Obama credit for putting the athletes and spectators ahead of politics. Romney-- Mitt Romney-- seems to be doing the same.
