Default Scary numbers

Yesterday's Daily Sun ran an article.... applications for permits to carry concealed weapons UP 67% in Florida. What do you make of that?

People are afraid that the Obama Administration is going to pass legislation to curtail gun rights.

From personal experience I am NOT a big fan of concealed weapons....I was driving away from my home when I spotted a man throwing rocks at a dog.
I stopped and asked the guy, nicely, to stop doing that. He declined, LOL, and went up the street to pickup two dogs he was walking. I turned started back to my car. When I looked back a very large silver gun was being waved at me. Being really stupid I followed the guy to his house, his gun was out the entire way. Then I went to the police to report the incident. After they picked him up he told the police I had tried to run him down with my car but fortunately there were witnessed who testified differently. He spent the weekend in jail because he couldn't make bail. I came home to testify at his trial but they plea bargained it down. I really don't know what happened to him.

But the sad thing is twice in my life I have intervened when women were being hit by men...both times in a parking lot. Each time I told the guy to stop, which they did, and then I called the police. Now I can't do that again mainly because I don't know if they will pull a gun on me.

This time its NOT a liberal/conservitive thing.....its experience.

I think you might need them when you go to the voting booth so you can make your way past the ACORN thugs if they are guarding the doors with their clubs.

Hopefully he had his license to carry the weapon revoked.... since he demonstrated he could not responsibly handle one.

No guns needed, just bring a bigger club.

LOL In my younger days I would be up for the challenge. Now, the thought of hand to hand combat with thugs one third my age doesn't seem very appealing.

Default I would bet the man who brandished his gun did not have a

concealed weapons permit. In the high 99 percentile those with a permit would never even give the situation a thought for use of a weapon.

If the individual did have a permit, based on your story with a witness, I would assume it was revoked.

Guns, as usual are not the issue....it is the brain or lack thereof of the holder of the gun. Those of us who are licensed to carry are in effect creating a safer environment for all.

(not specific to the intent of this thread).....remember when people try to tell you or anybody that guns are the problem is like saying erasers on pencils cause mis-spelled words!!

If I remember correctly he did not even have a license for the gun.

However, I can't go with you on the point that concealed weapon holders make us safer. Colorado had a concealed weapons law at the time of this incident. The recent shooting at LA Fitness is another case in point. That guy bought at least one of those guns from a gun shop ...it has been reported that he bought it from the same shop the VA Tech purchased his.

If you outlaw guns...only the outlaws will have guns.
