1. I havent heard Sen Obama's credentials as of yet

2. Using a source such as MOVEON to slam someone you oppose is pretty lame. (sort of like what JUNGLEJIM did on here)

3. Not huffy.....just want to discuss Sen Obama and his training and mentors that make him so eligible for this job ! Then after that...want to go over the issues and see where we stack up..

PALIN AND THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE.... John McCain's introduction of Sarah Palin as his running mate this afternoon was an interesting sight. If you watch the video carefully, and I hope you do, notice that in order to tell the audience his running mate's name, he had to carefully read it from a script. That's really not a good sign.

Palin's speech was rather routine, but there was a paragraph that stood out for me:

"...I championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. In fact, I told Congress -- I told Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that bridge to nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, I said we'd build it ourselves."


The McCain campaign has been flagging this pretty aggressively this afternoon. It's a shame, then, that Palin wasn't exactly telling the truth. As TNR's Brad Plumer explained, Palin actually supported the funding for the much-derided bridge project.

That's not a good start for her very first public appearance as the Republicans' VP candidate.

I'd add, by the way, that her reference to earmark spending is itself problematic. For all of McCain's alleged disgust for pork, Palin's Alaska receives more earmarks than any other state.

Sarah Palin is lying because someone from TNR ,whatever that is, says so. Thats
it for me she must be lying!

Alaska gets earmarks from the Democratically controlled congress. The only body in government who can spend money. Of which the governor has no control.

I dont want to get into a contest here...this board is supposed to be a discussion of issues. I can get to Sen Obama's website and have been there many times. That, TO ME, is NOT discussing issues in anyway. I do not support all of Sen McCains proposals nor do I disagree with all of Sen Obama's proposals. I simply wanted to discuss issues...referring me to the candidates website is not discussing. Perhaps I have misunderstood what DISCUSSING ISSUES means.

As far as those you say were NOT Sen Obama's mentors, HE CALLED THEM HIS MENTORS...NOT ME ! I do not know what else to say to you...HE SAID IT...NOT ME,NOT THE PRESS, NOT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY...HE CALLED THEM HIS MENTORS.

Again, perhaps I am confused about a discussion board....copying and pasting nasty emails and spin from sources that spin is NOT DISCUSSING (THAT applies to BOTH SIDESOF THE AISLE)...NOT saying you did that...simply stating that DISCUSSION seems to be something that is avoided at all costs. Searching the internet for bad things to say about the candidate you oppose is not discussion..and NOT saying you did that either.

It is just frustrating to ASK to discuss issues and get cut and pasted stuff.

For the record, I personallly, have never questioned his Harvard training, his few years as a legislator in Illinois and his few months in the senate nor his intellectual capacity. So please dont lay that at my feet...it never happened. I mentioned only those HE CALLED HIS MENTORS and his past associates and never in a disrespectful manner that I know of.

I also dont respond well to MOVEON nor any right wing propaganda site and if I offended your allegiance to them I am sorry. I, personally, just have no respect for those kind of sites and find that is the problem with politics today.....you either have to be one way or the other and it is not that simple. Those kind of places simply detract from what used to be a honorable calling...ie., being a statesman. If you think that MOVEON or several right wing sites would ever give you the entire story, then you are just simply wrong..they will not ever.

Again, I have ignored nothing...simply wanted to have DISCUSSION....seems that is not what you are here for and I am sorry if I have offended your political leanings...that was not my intent !

I DID NOT WRITE OFF ANY OF THEM. I said that organizations like MOVEON and also right wing sites that mirror them WILL NEVER GIVE YOU BOTH SIDES OF A STORY. They will simply give you what suits them out of context, etc. THAT IS WHY IF IT IS DISTRIBUTED BY ANY OF THEM IT IS SUSPECT in my opinion.

I can not imagine relying on such a site (and remember I include those who are right wing and do the same thing) for myinformation.....it is skewed AT BEST...it is not reporting...it is spinning. IT IS NOT TO ME A SOURCE. They will cut and paste anything negative about folks they oppose..they will give it out of context.

I am TOTALLY SUSPECT OF ANYTHING THAT MOVEON SAYS (AGAIN..also any right wings site like it). They are money makers who have on object.....crush and smear the opponent...and PLEASE I AM SPEAKING NOT ONLY OF MOVEON....but they are not news reporting agencies and they will ALWAYS DELIVER OUT OF CONTEXT ITEMS.

Anything referenced by them automatically to me is trash......that is not questioning where they got what they delivered but I can assure you....WITHOUT ANY DOUBT AT ALL. It is out of context and if the same source reported anything that was not a slam at the Republicans they will never allow it to see the light of day on their site or in any of their constant emails.

I hope that clarifies that for you....I cannot be much clearer...well,maybe so as this medium is tough for me to communicate in !

I think what Bucco and many others including me have asked of all you lefties is WHAT DO YOU THINK? Can YOU discuss Obama's policys and plans? Can YOU articulate or argue the results of his policy's or plans. I'll bet you can't because even the brightest people in the country can't because Obama cant espouse them himself. Only generalities and vague references to CHANGE and HOPE.
Maybe you can intellectualy grasp that he is looking for YOUR thoughts and not some web site or another to answer them for you. Do you have anything original to say??? Benj

Has anyone heard the rumor that Sarah Palin's baby is really her daughter, Bristol's baby? I doubt this could be true. Surely she was vetted and this would have come out.

I think politics are sinking pretty low when the children of people running for office are attacked by rumors. It's despicable. No one has a problem divulging the truth but facts need to be the truth before they are spread around and ruin a reputation.
