How about comparing California, Oregon, Washington, and the entire northeast from Maine to Virginia, with Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina. See which states send the most dollars to DC and which states take the most from DC. Here's a hint; SC gets $8.00 back for every dollar, while Delaware gets $.50 back for every dollar. Delaware also has the lowest taxes in the country.

See which states have the highest per capita income, the highest high school graduation rate, the highest literacy rate.

Ah...I think you're helping his point. Those are troubled cities with a large "minority" population. Those poor states you mentioned ALSO have a high "minority" population.

Do you see the common denominator to poverty and violence? A high minority population.
