Anyways, does any dispute the theory that our very own sun controls our climate? The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that the sun controls Earth.

discussion of global warming wind up in name-calling? While I am a conservative and believe strongly that re-electing President Obama would be a disaster for this country, that does not give me the right to denigrate those that disagree with me.

The issue of global warming should be discussed on the basis of the facts available to us, not on the basis of political ideology. I support the right of the schoolteacher in Mount Dora, Maxine Waters, the KKK, the moon lander skeptics, etc to speak their minds without fear of reprisal from the 'politically correct' in the name of 'tolerance'. Free speech should be just that - free speech.

First staying on task, I do believe that the sun has considerable sway over our planet's climate. And that like the moon there are yet to be discovered reasons as to their effect. As a side view, problems and misinformation arise because scientist fall into those human frailties of pride, jealousy, stubborness, etc which too often lead them to the wrong conclusion. Add to that the gaps and gaps of information that are still hidden to us (i.e. we don't know what we don't know). Thankfully we humans are blessed with a great curosity of our origins and that of the worlds above and below us. So I am appreciative of the efforts of scientist to explore this universe.

I thought he was too, Richie. Very disappointing. But I guess it takes more of a man to tackle a bug?:undecided:

I'm sorry about seeming to go off topic here. It's just that if someone says they're ignoring someone and then goes out of his way to antagonize that person anyway, it just rubs me the wrong way and I had to say something about it. Especially because I know that person and how truly intelligent he is and how this seems beneath him.

Well, human beings can have many "faces" depending on the motives and circumstances.
When I was living up north there were a few situations that really ticked me off. I have been down here in heaven for almost 11 months and I rarely, if ever, get angry. (Except when golfing, sometimes)
Sometimes a person's personality doesn't really show with just the written words. In person, I am a fun-loving guy who likes to really laugh.
Anyways, it is not very healthy to let someone push your buttons. If your in the habit of button pushing, expect someone to push your button back.
Running and hiding never solved anything. Just saying, that's all.

Back on subject

What do you make of carbon credits?
The main idea is "carbon credits," by which companies which actually make stuff have to buy "carbon credits" from people who don't do anything but gaze at the South American jungles. It's a really crazy-weird attempt to make megabucks off the fact that humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, while plants breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. Therefore, MORE carbon dioxide makes for MORE plants and jungles, which make MORE oxygen for us and other animals.
The tiny helpless "environmental" group known as the World Wildlife Foundation recently tried to scoop up SIXTY BILLION DOLLARS from its claims on Brazilian jungles. When you see figures like 60 billion, you should be aware that WWF and Greenpeace are not "helpless tiny" movements. They are competing in the same space as Big Oil and all their "enemies," and they need to be called out as "Big Green" and asked just what they are doing for the cause of conservation.
Anyways, I hope I'm making sense out of all the reading I have been doing lately. It is fascinating reading with articles a;ll over the web.
My take is to really watch out for the Greenies. They will use your sense of guilt to sell and achieve power.
