There is one or more threads about the single person accidently killed in San Francisco by a person who benefited from lax enforcement of laws. The right wing noise machine screamed, and continues to scream that this one incident proves that Mexico is sending its criminals to our country. The GOP has in just a few days managed to draft and pass legislation to fix the problem, all over this one incident. A party that has been so unable to agree within its own caucus that it needs Pelosi to get most anything done.
Yet when we have, once again, a failure of our already too loose gun laws to do what they should do, where is the outcry from the GOP leaders to do something? From your favorite website for balanced information, Fox News...
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Friday that "now is not the time" to discuss gun control, a position backed Saturday by rock musician and gun enthusiast Ted Nugent, who was in Lafayette for a sportsmen's exposition and came by to lay some flowers.
Asked whether Houser should have been allowed to purchase a gun, Nugent said "I think it's inappropriate to even approach that subject. I think it's all about prayers for the victims and the families."
Do you see an enormous difference in response? Can my GOP friends explain it to me? Are you so afraid the NRA will endorse someone even further to your right in the next primary if you dare say the words "gun control" in a positive way?
