So you want women and minorities fending for themselves? I agree...they have it too easy. |

Consider how we viewed women, sex in the 1940-50 and compare it to today. Virginity was once revered today its laughed upon. In today's society we call it progression but it seems to have actually been regressive. My mother counseled to not swear in mixed company. Here we are today where some women's language embarrasses most men. One wonders what feminist advocates make of what has happened to their movement . Indeed much has been accomplished but at the cost of emasculating men and unnecessarily hardening women. I opine other can decide if the trade off was necessary and worth it. And before anyone desire to slander consider that in my previous life I promoted several deserving women. so I am not talking about equal opportunity here I am addressing the social implication of it all...think Monica Crowley vis a vis Joy Behar and you get a sense of what I mean. Education
[QUOTE=Guest]The US drops again in world rankings...now down to #25 in education. #40 in math. Out of 70 developed countries.
http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2017/2017048.pdf WHY is this happening? Diversity. As the number of "stupid", low IQ minorities grows...the number of "smart", high IQ whites goes down. As this happens...the numbers slide...directly proportional. Our country is FILLING UP with people who's countries don't even make the list...they're that low...and we wonder why we're going downhill? We're breeding ourselves into idiots. We're devolving. Blacks and Whites with Equal Educational Attainment Differ in Cognitive Ability | Red Pill Central Response: My wife and I volunteer to teach and tutor elementary children. If you want to see the education system failing, then tutor and you will see it all! Direct and factual. They do need a lot of help. Here are some stumbling blocks: 1. Common Core etc. 2. Some PhD somewhere in Washington who never spent a minute in a classroom knows, dictates, and plans everything. 3. Some parents do not care. One family wrote a letter to our school that no one in the school was to try to correct the erratic behavior of their child. 4. Home work is a no no. A very long story. My wife and I are retired teachers, we have seen the whole picture folks, it is not good. Something to think about, a real set of problems. [QUOTE=Guest]Here's an example of the way math is being taught in this country today.
6+5+? Answer 11 Wrong, you have to follow a formula that explains how you get to the answer. The formula is subtract one from the six and make it five. Add the five to the five and get ten. The add the one back in. It's called doubling. You always have to subtract the lower number from the higher then double the lower number and add the difference back in. We once were #1 in the world when kids were learning the multiplication tables. We've added more and more of this kind of math and now we are #25. COMMENT Yes, we do agree with your assessment. Here is a shocker, the Education system should not allow a PhD to have a job or any input into elementary or secondary education. The example as you gave above is excellent and it illustrates two items: 1.Some math items are a nightmare of theory and rote memory. They turn off the child as they do not present a reasonable and useful math method they can remember or duplicate with models. 2. Remember the "new math" in the 1960 s? That was an abomination of some guys PhD dissertation. A real mess that was NOT useful but it was incorporated in math classes in California. You can email us if you like, we are open to discussion and we are retired teachers. bbbbbb You can email on this site. |

TRUTH-which side of the issue is the TRUTH. 2. You mention as you go on in life you find that things you were taught were simply not true. Our views are always changing. 3. Fairly recently I saw some 16mm movies of myself and my sister at like 4 and 6 years old. There were also movies of my parents and my aunts and uncles. It was truly shocking how different it was from what I remembered as a 4 year old. I remembered my parents and my grandparents scolding me regularly for littering. I remembered the streets were far cleaner in the old days. The movies showed clearly what I remembered simply was not so. The movies in the streets of NYC in Van Cortland park were full of TRASH blowing about. 4. RE: History The HISTORY we were FED in school was POLITICALLY CORRECTED HISTORY. Just like people are all hot and bothered about what is going on now THERE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ISSUES-how did we get here? A GREAT BOOK TO READ-"Don't Know Much About History." A quick introduction the the DIFFERENCE between what we were taught and REALITY. SADLY FEW PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING BUT THEY DO SCREAM WHAT THEY THINK THEY KNOW-BUT DON'T. |

Obviously I can't thoroughly discuss this in this forum BUT. Are we prepared -if there is a car accident and a young health person WHO DECIDED THEY DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR EXPENSIVE INSURANCE AS THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN SICK-to not provide medical care? Are we prepared to look in his wallet and if we do not find proof of coverage to simply take the alive or dead to the dump? YES, we who pay, pay more to cover the ones who don't RE: EDUCATION The price of a college degree has gone up far faster than the rate of inflation. THE REASON, ACCORDING TO ME, IS GOVERNMENT THROWING MONEY AT IT-A PRESCRIPTION FOR INFLATION. I personally went my first two years to a community college at night while working 40 hours a week and shooting weddings most weekends. I then transferred to a four year college where I graduated. My education cost me my considerable savings plus I had 13,000 in college loans. Translation that 13,000 to todays dollars it is 78,000. I GOT MARRIED TWO YEARS AFTER I GRADUATED. MY WIFE AND I LIVED CHEAP AND TOGETHER WE PAID BACK MY DEBT. I'VE EARNED EVERYTHING I HAVE-I NEVER WOULD HAVE ASKED ANYONE ELSE TO PAY FOR ERRORS I HAVE MADE. HOW DARE PEOPLE THINK THEY SHOULD TAKE FROM ME TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. |
