It will definitely speed up the timing of when we become the minority after which there will be no more hope of recovery to the America most of us grew up defending and loving.

I didn't get the memo from your cabal meeting. Exactly who is the "us" which is going to be the minority in the near future. And who is the them who when they take over will destroy the America you defended and no longer can love when is isn't "us" in charge any more? Bigot

The entire premise of this thread is bogus, the typical Obama Derangement Syndrome. Take something he said, twist it then pile on lots of conspiracy theories and throw in some racism for fun.

Obama answered a citizen question in Cleveland about Washington dysfunction and Citizens United. He mentioned several ways to improve the dysfunction and take big money out of politics. He mentioned in his answer that in Australia and other countries there is mandatory voting. He never proposed such a measure here. He also mentioned gerrymandering and other issues with meaningful elections. But go ahead and get angry and the POTUS who speaks much more clearly than you listen or comprehend.

In Australia, and some other countries, there’s mandatory voting. It would be transformative if everybody voted. That would counteract money more than anything. If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country, because the people who tend not to vote are young; they're lower income; they're skewed more heavily towards immigrant groups and minority groups; and they're often the folks who are -- they're scratchiyng and climbing to get into the middle class. And they're working hard, and there’s a reason why some folks try to keep them away from the polls. We should want to get them into the polls

If you read somewhere in that comment that he "wants to make a law you must vote" as the OP wrote and so many of you believe, it is a sad commentary on your ability to understand beyond what Fox News tells you to believe.

You are absolutely right. Too many of these Fox News junkies just hear a tidbit of what they want to hear and twist it in so many directions it is just a lie. President Obama did not ever propose a law to make voting mandatory.

Now obama wants to make a law you must vote. Next he will tell you how to vote. Then he will take your right to vote away. So get out there and vote and not for the democrats. See how bad that will be I just told you how to vote did you like it.

No, you are absolutely wrong. The President was talking about some countries that have mndatory voting but he did not say he wants to make it a law here.

he also stated maybe that was something "we" should take a look at.
Probably a throw away comment. Or even a trial balloon.
I am sure the "WH" got it's share of responses not much different than here on TOTV.
When one has a low trust factor like his along with his need to take executive action on anything not popularly supported, it is difficult to not weigh everything he states with a jaundiced eye.

Do you think a law like this would ever get through congress? Don't states make their own voting laws? Just last week, Oregon passed a law that automatically registers every resident to vote. They also vote exclusively by mail, so it just stands to reason, that Oregon is going to have a higher turnout of voters. All states should have similar laws.

The best feature Florida has is voting by mail. There is no voter ID required, just fill out your ballot at your leisure and drop it in the mailbox, could not be easier.

The voting practices need to be brought into the 21st century. This could allow for the possibility of voting on-line in the near future.

If Everyone Voted, Progressives Would Win | Al Jazeera America

"If everyone in this country voted, democrats would be in for the next 100 years", said John Kenneth Galbraith, noted economist.

You are sure the WH got it's share of responses not different than those on this forum? Probably so because there are so many low information Fox News listeners who rely only one one source rather than actually look up something for themselves. As we all know, Fox News will do just about anything to discredit this President including making the smallest most innocent comment seem like it is the story that will bring down fire and brimstone.

Dear Guest: You are absolutely right too many of these Fox junkies.....

But then, from the responses I've read on this forum too many posters seem to being getting their news from "The View"

How about the entire constitution? He's never been shy about his intentions.

Dear Responder: Then you DO agree with me that there are too many of these Fox junkies. They hear a tidbit of what they like and twist it all around so it assumes a whole new meaning.

Do you agree that President Obama did not propose a law to make voting mandatory?

Now, you are just an embarassment to yourself. Grow up. Talk to your doctor about raising your medication level. Check yourself into a mental hospital.
