All of you grow up this is way we are in such a mess in the country.

Guest 09-13-2011 07:32 AM

Folks,
I do not usually venture into the Political forum much....I view it as a rough neighborhood in an otherwise wonderful town......BUT, it seems that some Moderator intervention is sadly needed.

Again, we need to remind everyone that this political forum exists to intelligently, RESPECTFULLY discuss current political topics.

Discuss the topic, not each other. Stop the name calling, rude, childlike posts or risk infractions, time outs, and possible banning. Folks that resort to such tactics only make themselves look foolish and bring disgrace to the whole forum and perhaps even The Villages.

We Moderators have been asked by many of you to give the Political forum a bit more leeway......and we have tried to do so, but if folks cannot behave themselves then we will be forced to intervene more often.....something we would rather not do.

Basically, play nice in the sandbox or risk being removed from the playground.:ohdear:

When I posted some statements by Republicans I found offensive you came back with a video and some statement proported to be violent. Just look at your post.

My comment was if you considered that statement to be VIOLENT it was just plain silly.

Totally uncalled for and that post is no better than person you referred to. I've read most of Ritchie's posts and he does not need any go to guy. He is quite capable of making good arguments to support his position. The political forum has deteriorated in the past two months but hopefully those kind of days are a thing of the past.

Guest 09-13-2011 03:20 PM

I continue to object to the allegations and intents that continue to tar the political forum with a stigma based on the few that may not be in time with the step others think they SHOULD be.
The beauty of the 1st Amendment is that we are allowed to say what we think without having to pass muster with those who constantly believe they are above it all and based on their belief or opinion or desire to call others on the carpet.

How about determining the character and quality of what gets said and done based on the majority for a change. There will always be a minority contingent in any quorum. When one wants to disparage content how about being specific about who or what ya don't like? When all gets said and done the complainers position is just another opinion....right or wrong....just like those they tend to rail against.

Politics and any related positions are controversial and turbulent. Thank GOD some of us have an ability to sort the wheat from the chaffe and not dwell upon the minority, low percentage participation bombastic verbalization!!

Speaking of TeaPartiers and Republicans, Jimmy Hoffa says "Let's take these sons of b*****s out!

Then Obama says that he is proud of him!
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid..._of_hoffa.html

...If this isn't reminiscient of Nazi Germany, I don't know what is?

Yes, I think there is a concerted effort to smudge the Tea Party out just like they do to every preconceived threat to their agenda. The Democratic party knows what they are doing.

OK; thanks for the Civil War reference. Interesting and minor, in terms of historical significance, story about a pro slavery faction of northerners who wanted an immediate peace settlement with the Confederacy.

This is relevant to this dialogue....................how?

History repeats itself many times over and yet we always have fallen back to a two party system..I was trying to show an example of an extremist group and what almost happened..These typically have been extremist in their views and have not lasted..There are many examples of splinter groups but only a few that have caused this much damage...Like I said before,I have been to tea party meetings a couple of years ago when it was getting started in Pennsylvania and it started out with great ideas..I think it has been overtaken by extremists and a lot of racial hatred..Personally I'm not on a crusade to eliminate racism,it's way above my pay grade, but I don't want the country to be driven to the stone age by a few with their private agenda.

The Copperheads compared to the Tea Party? Why didn't you go all the way and say the Klu Klux Klan? Entirely ridiculous. Your perceptions of the Tea Party is unadulterated lies and nonsense. There's no truth to any of it. End of story.

I was involved with the Tea Party up north in New England and there was no trace of so-called racism. Just a bunch of nice people who are concerned for America's future. That's all.

Guest 09-14-2011 09:28 AM

vg you are talking about the majority of the Tea Party members and activity.
hrp is talking about the minority which may contain some members/attitudes that are not in line.

It is the old 80-20 at work....and it is unfortunate that people tend to use the minority incidents as the template for the rest of the organization. Usually because it suits their personal purpose/intent.

Like the media they will attempt to force looking at the world through a straw. They would say the entire world is gray if the were looking at the side of an elephant through a straw!!!! Unfortunately!!

The majority in the tea party, just like the R's and the D's want to do what is right to fix the country.

Here is where the difference gets highlighted rather than understood.

Are Tea Party folks racists? NO, but if one was a racist looking for a Party to join, it would most likely be the Tea Party.

Are Republicans all like Ebeneser Scrooge? NO, but if you are stingy and tight, then the Republican Party is the best choice for you.

Are Democrats responsible for all free handouts? NO, but if you support giving it away free, then the Democratic Party is your best shot.

Unfortunately, stereo typing by category is much quicker than looking at individuals and issues one by one.

And thats all I got to say about that.

Much water gone under the bridge but I was there for the original Tea Party protest with my homemade sign standing inside a round-a-bout. I talked with dozens of people that unforgettable day. Like any organization after it has been around for awhile, it will attract the undesirables. They will be out in droves in the coming months and we are always looking for the infiltrators and identifying them.

Yeah, great. Why didn't you say,

"If you're a Communist and want to crush the capitalist system, the Democrats would be the Party you would join".

"If you're a guy who wants to exploit the minorities by race baiting, the Democrats would be the Party for you"

"If you're a guy who wants to change the country from within by overpopulating the country with non-America loving illegals, the Democrat Party would be the Party for you.

Anytime, pal. Obviously you don't know me very well.

By the way; I've never been to a Tea Party rally and never went to any kind of meeting. The Tea Party's goals are inline with mine and that's all there is too it. You want to taint an organization by pointing to a couple of oddities, and that's your game. I can do the same thing to you leftists (don't be giving me that "I'm a conservative" stuff; because nothing in your posts alludes to that)

You talk like nobody else observes what's going on and rely on you to give them the skinny. Well, think again.

Those would be good additions, but there all true. I was just trying to point out that Republicans and the Tea Party has lots of bigots and racists. Not all, but a lot and the Democrats being a raciest is very uncommon. Ya know I'm right on this one.

I have watched him enforce on here to the point that most just leave. Relentless with sarcasm until the average person becomes so upset they quit being part of the TOTV. I have left and even changed my login ID and this time, I just don't argue as it is pointless. A perfect agitator, so I have decided to join with a handshake and a beer and laugh at it all. Not a bad person, simply enjoys the battle over how to upset the other person the most. Get this, I support most of what he posts in for its content, but do know the sting of his hateful sarcasm, so I just keep quite. No offense to either party.

Nonsense, I would be willing to bet the Democrat Party is loaded with people you would consider racist. I can make a case the Vice President of your party is a closet racist.

Enforcer?; where the heck does that come from. You have always come after me and attacked me. I have only responded to your uncalled for attacks.

My mistake is entertaining your unstable anger issues. I can't even understand your position most of the time in your rambling diatribes, and you seem to think you make sense.
