Wonder if this chap would consider running for our congress? I'd love to see a Republican with enough backbone to take on our Prime Minister.

could someone please give at least one example of something the government has taken over that is better today than before the take over?
I do wait with baited to be proven wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BTK

Huh?!
-The interstate highway system
-The FEDERAL -DIC which has never failed to cover YOUR money when a PRVATE bank failed.
-The TVA which provided millions with electricity that private enterprise never could have done.
-Standards for clean water- unless you enjoy drinking lead, arsenic and a thousand other chemicals
-Safe standards for care- NHTSA- Ever wonder why that 18 wheeler behind you doesn't ram your trunk? Because the "Feds" prohibit him from driving for 24 hours straight, and makes sure his brakes work.
-Ever fly on an airplane? Safety of the plane, safety in the sky, trainig of the pilot
- Safety of atomic fuel and waste. Would you prefer that Enron took care of it?
- Veteran's Administration- Everyone is on their own now guys, good luck with your triple amputation!
-Medicare. You're welcome to put the insurance money back- or at least not takeout more than you paid in!
-Social Security- see Medicare. If you and millions of others had invested "privately" what would the retirement payout on your portfolio be today?
-The VCDD's- you pay taxes to it, and the developer makes obscene profits- just like any other government. But without it, would you have this quality of life?
- Fire, police, libraries, school standards, building standards, elevator regulations, tensile strength of materials.

We didn't have government in the "wild west" - is that really the sort of life you'd like to have today?

Think before you "ditto"

Not all regulation is bad, most government run programs are. Some of your assumptions are pretty thin but a few are valid. You blur the lines between private sector and Federal government entities. The Developers are not the Federal government, they are private enterprise.

You assume that without regulation Airlines would be crashing all the time and truck drivers would be killing everyone on the road. Something tells me the pilots themselves and truck drives are not real keen on killing themselves or the companies they work for. Guess what though? Planes and trucks still crash.

The FAA is Federal but all the rest are private. The FAA is also in shambles and totally disorganized. I’ve been working with them for the last 5 years on and off for UAV regulation. Remember the last FAA system revamp? They spent billions and in the end had to trash the whole system and start over. Another Federal mismanagement mess and waste of taxpayer money.

TVA is state government not Federal and even today they can’t seem to figure out how to lay underground cable instead of trashing tens of thousands of property values. Ask me how I know? They just cost me thirty grand.

Social Security and Medicare are both bankrupt and one of the largest government rip-offs in history.

Fire and police are also local government, not Federal.

School standards? Our public schools and education system are in shambles and an embarrassment to our country. Another Federal debacle.

I consider the VA part of the military and what at the very least we owe our veterans. Even the VA is not that well run. They’ve been in the news for the last few days as well.

What is it that leads people to believe the government is the answer when they are always the problem? Even the founders and framers who created our government knew it and wrote about it extensively.

Because so many do not want personal responsibility for themselves and expect a Santa Claus federal government which will take care of everything that isn't "fun." Sad, but it really seems that simple.
