What would YOU say to Obama?
Ok, so it was announced that President Obama was coming to Nashua, NH this coming Tuesday. He's going to speak and have a Town Hall meeting at the new high school.
Yesterday, I mentioned to my fiancee that they were giving the tickets away randomly and that you had to sign up on a website by 5pm Saturday. Just for the heck of it, we went over to my computer, logged on, and filled out the information for her. I wouldn't be able to go as I couldn't get the time off work. Lo and behold. This afternoon she got the call. She was randomly selected to get two tickets to the Town Hall Meeting. Now, she's not exactly what one would call "a Democrat" (no fan of Obama there, but great respect for the office of the Presidency). In fact, she's quite the Libertarian and fiercely proud of it. She'll even tell you that she's a citizen of New Hampshire as opposed to a "U.S. Citizen" (check the Constitution, there does seem to be a difference, 14th Ammendment, Section 1). I'm curious - and keep this polite as my finacee intends to.. If you had your chance - what one question would YOU ask the President in a Town Hall meeting setting? |

Not a question -anyone & everyone will do that.
A statement. "Mr. President, please continue to tirelessly pursue the ideas and ideals you espoused in the campaign, and for which a clear majority of the nation elected you. Have the courage and strength to continue the fight against the enormous power of those of wealth and selfish special interests. Ignore the media fascination with those opponents who are suddenly portrayed as embodying the newest 'will of the majority'. We members of the real majority still desperately want significant health care reform, financial regulation and stabilization, protections for the poor and middle classes from further exploitation by the wealthy, and increased educational, employment and housing opportunities. In short, we are no different than the common men of any era of this nation's history. A small number of our Presidents became great because they more successfully represented us than did others. Stay the course. God speed. |

I would ask about the transparency that he promised during the campaign. He said that back door deals were in the past and everything would be on C- span. I would ask if he thought he was a lair.

That would be a good start
It should take just one meeting just to cover those subjects for sure.

Ask
I would ask him what he and other left wingers have against the successful people who are rich and provide the jobs in America.
Also why he is against health care reform and instead wants to unreform it more by getting the inefficient Government more involved. |

Cashman: That kind of question would get justifiably ignored. It sounds like demagoguery - like saying "why do you hate children?" without giving any examples. In fact, I could probably predict what Obama would say - he's only "against" those Wall Street execs who have to have the Big Bonuses because they are such valuable commodities - and yet they never fathomed that real estate prices could shrink.
He'd also point out his proposals in the State of the Union Address that specifically call for tax breaks for employers who create new jobs. In short, you make yourself an easy target to get shot down and almost ridiculed. If you're going to make an accusation, you better be able to back it up. Now, you're a lot closer, IMO, in your health care part. I certainly have had unpleasant experiences relatd to me by family members having to deal with Medicare - including one that gets my blood boiling every time I talk about it even though it happened over 15 years ago. If I were doing the asking, I'd put it more like "How can you sell the idea of Government involvement in health care to the people when the people mistrust the Government - and don't want 'DMV-like' service at the hospital? After all, a 1200-page bill doesn't sound like it would simplify matters any." |

Are you working
Quote:
You called me a demagogue which makes you one. Did you know that? |

Cashman - I said "it sounds like demagoguery", I did not call you a demagogue. Stop putting words in my mouth, please.
