This thread relates to the discussion of Palmer's Championship golf course conditions thread of 6/24-7/20-16 thread concerning golf course conditions. It has always been my belief that the Developer, District, POA VHA LOE merchants, etc taps into this forum. If they don't they are missing a treasure trove of information.

In today's (Sunday 7/31) Daily Sun provided ample space for discussion of course maintenance including a column written by Steve Trivett. Clearly the message being sent is one that impresses upon the reader to consider the difficulties of maintenance.

There were some good points about the number of rounds played, etc. But I considered it a CYA article. Some of the greens are still in terrible condition even after the course being closed. Saddlebrook and Hawke's Bay as examples. I can only imagine the nasty comments when the birds return.

It was definitely a CYA article.

One only has to go to a plethora of courses outside the bubble, who have the exact same environmental/weather challenges, to see that good course conditions CAN exist.

Played Lake Miona or Harbor Hills lately? Two goat pastures I'll never set foot onto again. Played EP today and the course (except for the bunkers packed from yesterday's rain) was in really good shape. Probably not the shape the privileged/entitled from the north are used to, but WHO CARES? From working in one of the golf shops the last 9 months, I've come to meet a LOT of really nice, down to earth people; on the flip side, I've also had the opportunity to meet some real uppities.
