Have played it many times. I often use my lib wedge on many holes along with sand and pitching wedge.
I have no trouble picking off the mats. Probably because I don't know how to take a proper divot! ;o( When I do take a divot it is usually BEFORE the ball, NOT GOOD! |

You can rent a carry bag or pull cart for $1. So if you want to bring you bag the first time out and have a selection, that would be your best option. Don't forget a hat and a bottle of water. After all this is Florida

Bring clubs you want to ruin when you hit off mats.

Why do you say that? We have played it several times. Mats don’t hurt the club. Same as mats at Sarasota practice facility.

Quote:
Mats actually cause less damage to clubs, than taking that divot on grass...with small hidden rocks/roots beneath. The problem with mats, are that they allow what should have been bad contact...to come out OK. If you tend to hit a lot of shots 'fat,' mats offer little resistance...and will make the shot look/feel artificially good. |

Has anyone brought their own mat? By that I mean, a mat that you carry along with you and lay it over tee mats. Just an idea.

My game is not what it used to be, so I take my driver, a four iron, wedge and putterI I am used to playing off cart paths and rough, so the mats are a bonus!
