Default Question about GPS - new homes / discoverable

Hi - I am moving to a new home in Bradford very soon.

My home is not discoverable via Google Maps - my street doesn’t even show up in Google Maps. (Note:
new residents have already moved into homes on my small street.)

My question - how do you get a home/address discoverable via GPS? I worry I will be unable to get FedEx or Amazon deliveries to my new home (I worry because my previous home was brand new, too - in a new sub-division - FedEx and Amazon could not make deliveries and I ended up having to go to the post office postmaster to request my address be ‘activated’ - before it was recognized via GPS).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What did you have to do?

Thank you!!! I need to get this resolved fast - I close very soon.

Your concern is valid. Sometimes delivery people would argue with me as to where I lived and once it took quite awhile for first responders to find our new Village just down the street from the firehouse when someone fainted from dehydration at a Potluck we were having in the new neighborhood. However, people who work with delivering and helping are focused on learning the new areas. Not to worry too much.

We use WAZE and had that in the most southern part of the villages some months back.

Told us first exit onto Morse and took us south until we got onto a dirt road and Waze had no idea where we were.

Sat there until I found an empty truck leaving the area and followed him back to civilization.

A week or so later Waze had updated to the area, no idea how it happens but it does.

Hi and Thank you for your question.

In our app, if you live in the newer sections... click "Search"... type in your address but type in Wildwood instead of The Villages and it will pop up.

If you talk to anyone having issues finding your house, be it any delivery type service, friend or family, tell them to get the app and type in Wildwood at the end.

We aren't able to change the City name because we don't have the option to do it because it was Wildwood. That will change in time.

Also, if you live in the newer sections towards U.S. 27/441 and Leesburg... Type in "Fruitland Park" as the city name and it will find your house.

For those of you that do this and don't want to have to do it again.... Once it finds your house, click the "Heart Icon" and it will save it in your Favorites so you never have to search for your house again.

Hope that helps and hope you all had a Wonderfull Thanksgiving and Very safe and Happy Christmas :-)

Default Thanks —-

I appreciate all the feedback - I have found different results ....
- From my iPhone map app - my address sort of comes up - but not an exact mapping - comes up as ‘Wildwood’ & an entirely different zip code - nothing like what is on my contract/closing docs for my home in Bradford.
- Waze - using the same street mapping source (mentioned above) comes up as ‘Wildwood’ and funky zip code
- Google maps - doesn’t recognize my address or street in Bradford at all - with a Wildwood or The Villages address or the variety of zip codes associated with it
- openstreetmap - recognizes my Bradford street at The Villages - but not does not recognize my house number, lat/long listed looks ok, tho
- smartystreets recognizes my Bradford house/street / zip - but takes me to the wrong lat / long location (way northern part of The Villages) and shows my address as inactive w/USPS

I will ask my Villages Sales Rep - I can’t be the first one to experience this :-)

Hope I do not need emergency services before they get things fixed!!! :-) I never thought about that - I am just worried about getting my Amazon deliveries. Also - I have a bunch of contractors set up to come to do things to the new home before I move in - it is going to be interesting :-) if they aren’t familiar w/Bradford. :-)

Also - I will head over to the new home - later - to get my exact lat/long (people at openstreetmap and smartystreets (both places that feed navigation systems) - have responded to my questions - and getting them the lat/long will help them)

In the meantime suggest you write out directions so you can send to people as needed

This thread is in the forum for The Villages GPS app. We're going to close the thread since they have responded. If you'd like to start another thread discussing new home locations and the general lag in GPS coverage please feel free to start one in another section of the forum.
