Default The Villages' GPS

Love having The Villages' GPS system, but it goes dead on my phone a lot. I will be driving and my iPhone goes back to the home page several times during one outing. I talked with someone else and she said it happens to her a lot, also. Is this being worked on to be corrected? I do wish it would tell you when you have made a mistake and need to turn around or reroute my plan. Other than that, the system is wonderful and needed.

Default Village GPS

Same thing happens to me. Also cursor which represents my cart keeps going off screen and I have to keep hitting reroute. Very annoying. Please fix.

Could this be related to cell coverage?

No, it's related to the poor app. I have said and will say again, Google maps on bicycle mode is far far better!

It never goes dead for me as long as I have cell service.

I also prefer Google Maps...I'm simply relating my experience with TVGPS.

My experience has been good. I use an iPhone with AT&T. I also preview the whole route before I embark on my route. But I do wish the app would verbally let you know you have turned the wrong way like my car's gps.

Hi JC and John,

We do have Auto ReRoute in the latest update.
To update your iPhone:
1. Go to your App Store App (Blue)*
2. Click the Update button on the bottom right.
3. Find Villages GPS (Blue with a compass)*
4. Click Update.

If you have the update and are not hearing the voice.....

The iPhone has two volume settings.... One for the ring and another for music....we get a lot of emails saying that the sound isn’t*working or is too low.... After they tried turning up the volume after clicking Start and it worked.

Steps to check your volume:*

1.Turn up your Volume as high as possible before opening the app.

2. Start a route from your home or wherever you are.*

3. After you click “Start” and it shows the route, now turn up your volume again. Now you are good to go.

Hi villagetinker,

There are a few places in The Villages where cel phone signals drop out that will really mess up the app because it needs to know where you are at all times.

Is there a way to copy the map to the phone and use it without data , like Google maps allows?

If not, is it a coming improvement?
