The good news is some number of years after we are gone they will be able to figure out how much of global warming was in fact our fault.

Where ever you read it, that is a lie, unless you are counting scientists that are not climatologists.

Forty years ago the far more minor panic, we did not have Al Gore, the concern was global cooling.

Even the words have been changed. The SCREAM is no longer global warming it has evolved to CLIMATE CHANGE. Climate is always changing.

History of US? I've enjoyed reading old books. Panic, misinformation etc etc etc has been published in studies over and over again. I have a book about 1900 that predicts the end of female virtue due to the bicycle. I have another complete with graphs to give it credibility that if we do not switch to electric trucks always were good for short haul, stop and go deliveries the streets of NYC would have horse manure up to your waist.

When they write about us, surely they will have a laugh about what we thought. Exercise? Books will appear, of course with graphs as to how many people die on the way to the gym and pushing the machines. Bacon and salami? They didn't know were the cure for hydrophobia of the blowhole.

Interesting, you know this is not just being addressed in the US, but almost every other country agrees. So, this "conspiracy" of rich people getting rich off the scan, must include 99% of the scientists all over the world, not just here.

Could you provide any insight into how they are making money off of this?

Oh, and do you have a plan B if you are wrong? Do your kids or grandkids?

Studies and grants, the only way scientists make money.

Thank you, you have opened my eyes, I didn't think of the scientists in the 1900's. It all makes sense now, all the scientists in the world are wrong. They were wrong once, so, there is no way we can ever trust them again.

Scientists develop theories and sometimes the theories are correct and are considered scientific laws. Othertime new info emerges and very often scientists have to rethink their previous beliefs.

People used to think that the planets orbited the earth. How did that work out?

First, theories are demonstratable, hypotheses are ideas.

In science theories are always challenged, seldom does a theory gets thrown out, it gets modified as new evidence shows flaws, which results in an improved theory.

Everyone should rethink their beliefs periodically. We are all prone to believing things we think are true. Scientists on the other hand have a method of updating hypotheses and theories, it's called the Scientific Method. It does not rely on beliefs, or what the janitor's cousin says.

The scientific method has improved a little bit since planets were thought to orbit the earth. And there was a bit of "religion" involved in that also, which is one reason it is so important to separate religion (faith-based beliefs) from science (fact/theory-based beliefs)

Obvious it's important enough to the poster, so either read it, don't read it and move on

It is a part of the information considered, but I think it is more a prediction of change that will add to the rate of change. If that makes sense.

Here is a NASA site that provides a lot of information and many links:

Isn't it obvious that climate change will always be a part of earth's future. You cannot stop the earths geological and climate systems. Can you stop the vulcanism that drives this planet ? Can you stop the north and south poles from reversing their polarities and location?
Sure there can be significant attempts to live in as healthy environment as possible. Just realize, as clint once said, " a man's got to know his limitations
