Correction ... the most Florida tornadoes occur in late summer, but most are of the weaker intensities. However, February tornadoes are often more violent and have caused the most personal injuries and greatest property damages of all months.

You are CORRECT...
.....and the last real nasty Tornado that ripped thru The Villages and
Lady Lake happened FEBRUARY 07 2007.

That was 14 years ago TODAY...

What a mess...... but...
The Villages came thru to help with hundreds of trucks and tarps
and workers and skid steers and backhoes.....
the clean up was handled in an amazing fashion....
and very quickly.

It happened almost today, but was on Groundhog Day, 2007. It was Florida's 2nd worst tornado outbreak, where nearly 1,300 Villages homes were damaged or destroyed, and luckily no Villages deaths -- but many injuries. There were, however, 21 deaths as the tornado ripped through Lake County and on through DeLand and New Smyrna Beach.
