Default Lightning Talk

A talk called "Lightning: Science & Safety" will be given today, (June 13) at 1 PM at the Bridgeport Recreation Center for the Science Club. This enlightening talk provides excellent information about personal and property protection, including lightning rods. If you have gas lines in your attic and don't have lightning rods, you'll want to visit this talk before Thor, the god of thunder and lighting, visits you.

I put it all down to record amounts of snow on Mt Buller in Oz!

Well if you insist.

We will have a record snow in Florida unless of course we do not. Write that down.

The post is about lightning not snowfall. You did not disappoint me.

It all goes back to global warming or cooling depending upon when this conversation would take place.

Why in the world would I want to disappoint you of all people.

I am not a lightning "expert" and I really don't believe anyone is.

Many years ago, when I was erecting a 65 foot high tower next to my house in New Jersey, I spent several months reading everything I could get my hands on that would give me incite on what I could do to discourage lightning from targeting my tower.

When I finished, I was certain of one thing about lightning. Lightning will do what lightning wants to do, and there is little anyone can do about it. I could attached a sophisticated and expensive lightning arrester, and ground wires in many different configurations to the tower and it would do little to prevent lightning from hitting the tower.
.
Several months after my tower was erected and I mounted a very large Mosley CL-33 antenna on it, I witnessed lightning pass within 4 foot of the tower, come within 2 foot of my neighbor's brick chimney and poke a hole though asbestos siding on his neighbor's house to reach a ground wire in the neighbor's attic.

Regarding "experts" ... Richard Feynman said, "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts." As a Nobel Prize winner, an Einstein Award winner, and recipient of the "National Medal of Science" award which is only presented by presidents; Richard produced his famous quote after discovering the fraud underlying climate alarmism.

Are you sure about that? That quote seems to be attributed to a talk entitled "What is Science" that was
Presented at the fifteenth annual meeting of the National Science Teachers Association, 1966 in New York City, and reprinted from The Physics Teacher Vol. 7, issue 6, 1969, pp. 313-320 by permission of the editor and the author.
Did he discover the fraud underlying climate alarmism back in 1966 and just forget to mention it in his talk?

The 60s was the beginning of the new "Ice Age" climate alarmism. Unfortunately, Leonard Nimoy fell for the then climate "experts" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22BXOGTTMbo

The video is about the 1970s, I didn't see Feynman mentioned at all, and Nimoy is not Feynman.

You made a claim about the Feynman quote; do you have anything to back up that claim?
