pinellas place sinkhole?

did anyone hear of a recent sink hole here?

Phanatic Luvr 04-26-2013 05:14 PM

Yep!

rubicon 04-26-2013 05:33 PM

Does anyon have more detail? I suspect if true then it may have an affect on securing sinkhole coverage in the area

Trish Miller 04-26-2013 06:51 PM

It is very close to Yearling Way in Pinellas

For those of us not familiar with the area, can you tell us more? Is this a residential area? Are houses being built near-by? Or is this closer to the future commercial area?

Hopeful2 04-26-2013 09:50 PM

Oh my! I know that the houses on Yearling Way are brand new. Does anyone have any additional info about the sinkhole?

KeepingItReal 04-26-2013 09:56 PM

Here is a Mapquest Capture. It's just south of 466a.

kittygilchrist 04-27-2013 06:20 AM

thanks for the info...

asianthree 04-27-2013 06:27 AM

i see there are six people closing on yearling way in the next month...wonder how it will affect the insurance

Bonnevie 04-27-2013 08:05 AM

how are you able to see that people are closing there?

Wondered too.

Roaddog53 04-27-2013 08:57 AM

Again, before anyone panics as stated, HOW do you know it is a sinkhole? Settling, underground lines, drainage, etc are known in new areas. Did you confirm it with a contractor??

rubicon 04-27-2013 09:29 AM

If it is a sink hole neither the Developr nor the contractors will be much interested in willingly providing information publically. They of course have a legal obligation to notify prospective buyers. Sumter county website publishes plots that were sold. What consititues a sink hole ? I leave that to the experts. However, it is unsettling

Thanks. Another rumor stopped.

Maybe.

We too were also that way today and did not see anything resembling a sinkhole anywhere on that street. Perhaps it is the drainage ditches between the lots that looks like a dip. Nothing roped off, nothing with stakes, nothing with equipment and IF it was a sinkhole the developer/contractor could not cover it up without having some type of inspection first to determine if it truly was one.

I have great insite.... just kidding...because people on this site have posted..."closing on our new home next month on yearling way can't wait" thinking it would be a good indication that THEY are closing or six people just posting that they are buying a new home just to feel the TV experience...LOL

aaffmom 04-28-2013 09:34 AM

Would this not be catastrophic ground collapse?

It would be nothing.

Sinkhole repair

The SINKHOLE is being repaired, Drilling several holes and pumping grout around two houses at the end of Useppa Oaks at Yearling. We were told that it is between the homes and they are pumping concrete grout under these houses for 2-3 weeks now.

Thanks for the update

Phanatic Luvr 05-06-2013 07:18 AM

That's why I originally put "Yep". But didn't want to cause mass panic. Hubby is in that area daily and has been watching the activity. And for myself, I would have gone to take pictures but didn't want yet another nail in my tires.
Has anyone seen the jar of collected nails at the Tire Choice? I think we all must run right there to have them removes. :evil6:

BettyCrocked 05-06-2013 07:33 AM

I thought this was just a rumor? One person said they saw nothing and a vicious rumor was stopped in its tracks!

That brings up a good question: are sinkholes or excessive settling, common in Florida after new construction?

Where did you find that information? Please PM me if you have time.

Kaschilz 05-06-2013 12:24 PM

Anyone with good info on this please post. We own on Useppa Oaks very near these houses that are being treated but are back in NC trying to sell our house. We did see the house on the corner having the concrete being pumped in last time we were there but now it looks like three houses are involved. Kind of too close for comfort and we have't even been able to move in yet. We will be down in a couple of weeks to check things out but would sure appreciate any good info that anyone finds out in the meantime. Thanks for posting about this so we can keep track of things from afar.

Useppa Oaks intersects Yearling at both ends. At which location is the sinkhole? The intersection closest to Buena Vista or at the other end near the pond? Is the sinkhole on homes on Useppa Oaks or Yearling? Thanks.

Its probably the same old thing - people are so afraid that something negative about The Villages might actually be true! Some people just insist that everything is perfect, so they just jump at any possibility that the less than perfect occurrence didn't really happen. Most people know The Villages is great, but can admit that it is not perfect.

Have you asked your salesperson about the activity that's been going on for the last two to three weeks? That would be a good place to start. Also, were you able to get sinkhole insurance before you closed? You might want to check with your insurance carrier.

skip0358 05-06-2013 03:18 PM

Omitted

Roaddog53 05-06-2013 03:23 PM

Mia Copa... We went by a few times and saw nothing, in the area that showed anything wrong. perhaps it was because it was "between" homes or behind them that we did not notice. I sincerely hope all is ok. All the the homes are sold or built except three on the east side of Useppa. Is it the spec homes. or someone's home? Sounds catastrophic, not part of the house? Versus condemnation and altered the structure. Insurance companies involved?

How big is the "LAND DEPRESSION"? Are there homes on the property? If so, are they 'for sale' or 'sold'?

justjim 05-06-2013 03:32 PM

Humnn.....land depression instead of a sinkhole. Interesting----never heard that term used before and I have lived in Florida for over 10 years----learned something new today!

skip0358 05-06-2013 03:59 PM

Stop by and talk to the guys.

The Buckeyes 05-07-2013 12:34 AM

Has anyone PHYSICALLY walked around those properties and saw a sinkhole? Or are we just commenting?

graciegirl 05-07-2013 05:05 AM

Sink hole is a scary term. There will be many small ones druing the rainy season.

Many times there are drops/sinkholes/cave-ins around water holes. I think that is the reason that "THEY" are careful in making man made "lakes" or deepening existing ones.

Frequently the drain tile will cause ...to me.....unusual settling. There was a thread on this some time ago in St. James. I will see if I can find it.

https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...le-path-55594/

Also, during the summer rainy season here, there will be sinkholes as sure as God made little green apples.
