If you rent your house out for less then 6 months, you need to charge the tenant Sale's tax each month that is due to the County and the State of Florida. You also have to have a business license (from the County & State) and there are certain requirements that you need to follow, i.e. emergency lighting in the house, smoke alarms, map of the house showing the exits, etc. You need to go to the Florida State Website (
Untitled 1 )and read about what is required by law. You will also find the forms you will need to get the business licenses and to file the sale's tax. That is all on the State's website. When you are finished with that, it will direct you to your County website. Or, you can call the County to find out what they require. It is a little complicated to get started, but once you get the required information, it will get easier each month that you have to report.
