I attended The Villages 11 A. M. Welcome Wednesday today and was impressed by who was there and the format of the meeting.
Almost all department heads were there as well as other additional staff and Ms. Tutt. Many District supervisors were in attendance to represent their district plus people who volunteer to serve on other Villages committees. So, there were about 30 of them and two interested residents in attendance.
As the staff brought everyone up to speed on current and new Village developments, time was allotted for question on those matters. At the end of the formal presentations, questions were again solicited from anyone in attendance on any topic.
As the polo fields may be moved, I ask that they think about building an airport there as it would be centrally located and I love to fly. In my small town of 11,000 back in Ohio, we have an airport.
Seriously, I you do have questions to ask, this is a good time and place to start discovering the answers. The more I learn about the CDD form of local government the better I like it. If you don’t, then live with it because it’s not going to go away.
At a Rotary meeting this evening, a representative from Southwest Water Management presented projections for population growth in Sumter County through 2035 that was less than I would have expected.
