Sorry, outlaw, I mean no disrespect. If there is very little traffic in the approaching streets, it could work. But if two lane streets are operating anywhere near their capacity, and they are then funneled down into a single lane, delays and conflicts are the result. The laws of physics (and traffic) demand it.
You can't put 10 pounds of potatoes in a 5 pound bag.
