I think you may be thinking of a Zwave lock or something to that effect. These are connected to a central panel (usually an alarm system) by a wireless signal and can be controlled remotely. There are also several push button code methods that do not require an alarm and will allow you to set multiple user codes.
Go to Amazon and look up "Zwave locks" and check the user reviews, then pick your poison
