Perhaps the dentist on CR 101 merely had a different opinion.  I truly don't think most dentists are thieves. |
Not sure if you were using a dental insurance plan, but the recommendation of the regular dentist "up north" (Canada?) could be based on what the private insurer or government dental plan is willing to pay for. Both tend to like cheaper remedies.
