Medical Bill
I'm assuming you have Medicare. You need to look at your Explanation of Benefits to see what your patient responsibility is. It will states on the EOB. Also, if you were in the hospital, request an itemized statement before paying the bill. Look at the bills closely. There could be double charges. Sometimes if Medicare doesn't pay for a certain DX code they will give an explanation as to way if wasn't paid.
Doctors may send in the wrong diagnosis codes and if that is the case the doctor can resubmit the right diagnosis codes and ins. may pay. Please note- if you signed an Advance Beneficiary Notice- also called waiver of liability you may be responsible.
