I witnessed the columns being removed from two Gardenias. Both homes had the columns installed on top of the floor tile. Both homes had tile throughout living area, no carpet.
Removing columns will require some drywall/moulding repair & replacement. Messy, but not major work.
Removed columns have been sold on TOTV.

Thanks for the info. I was very surprised that these were installed in the manner you described, but that makes the removal much easier then I imagined. just out of curiosity, was the ceiling intact when these were removed? That makes the project real easy.
