I know that this is slightly off topic but I have also purchased several items for the visually impaired from Independent Living. I bought a talking alarm clock. My mother loves it because when she wakes in the middle of the night, she just asks what time it is.It also programs the alarm using voice commands. Another cheap but very useful product is called bumps. They come in different colors and you put them on the oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer, etc. My mother now feels confident using all her appliances with the bumps to guide her.
