Check the pet fee on the Hilton, though. We used to stay at the one in Ocala on the way to Key West. It was $25 for the pet. Then it was $50. By the time it went to $75, other hotels (not as nice, I admit) were becoming pet friendly.

It may have come down due to competition.

My favorite dog-friendly hotel is Loewes across from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. It is pricey and charges for parking, but the rooms are beautiful. And they go all out for the dog, bringing snacks, bowls & a mat, and a room service menu for pets. Plus the Vanderbilt campus is right across the street and beautiful for a walk. Well lit after dark.
