Unless I missed it....did you say whether the burner was in fact on as well or just the indicator?
If the burner functions normally then there is an indicator light sensor of some sort.
Assuming the burner does work, put a pan of water on the burner and bring to a boil. Turn off the burner and leave the pan on the burner for it all to cool down.
Just a wild guess but starnger electronics issues have resolved by trial and error.
