What is missing are the success stories of others in similar positions who do love life and family and friends as we all do. These are the role models....unfortunately in our day and morality good news is not very news worthy.
What is sad is the impact on the family. He made his choice for himself. But also for his family. Let us hope there is some worthy role model to show the the right way.
